I don't have RK hair, but I did buy some "virgin indian hair" and I used 30 vol peroxide and a bleach powder to lighten mine. I left it on for 20 mins. and I got it to a light auburn shade, I then dyed to to my natural color 5, and I absoultly love it. It was a little iffy (dry and nasty looking) after the bleaching, and I thought I would have to chop alot of ends off, but after I dyed it and conditioned the heck out of it, it looks great. I can't wait until my LG arrives then I am going to try the sandwich technique.
I don't know if that helps you. I have heard that using a vol 40 can really damage the hair. I didn't wrap it in any foil, but that may have sped the process up a little.

Actually Tangles no, but I am currently going to school at the Aveda Academy studying to be a cosmetologist. My mom and aunt have been doing hair professionally for many many years, and I have been giving my friends and family basic bonded hair extensions with chrissy v for like 3 years, and now I am learning fusion. Eventually when I am liscensed I plan getting certified with great lengths and hair locs as well as socap. I am also in the middle of building my own website selling hair extensions, I hope to have the site up and running next month. I plan on selling virgin hair but I am trying to make a demo showing how to color the hair.
To get my virgin fina hair to a #4 I used 30 vol and 7n redkin it worked great. I made another peice a little lighter with 8n and 40 vol. If the RK you bought is colored then you have to bleach.

I just went to Sally's and bought a bleach that was in a blue pouch, and was a blue powder.
When I first embarked on this adventure, I tried just using 30vol peroxide and 5n Redkin color, but there was no change after 1 hour of lettting it set. But bleaching, then coloring worked out great. If only my LG would arrive, I would put them in.
I can't wait to see your site!!
I love Aveda, but the little *(^%$# town that I am in, has never heard of Aveda, so I reluctantly have to use something else, or drive almost 2 hours to buy it. I moved from the "land of Aveda", were it was so abundant (Minnesota) and now I am stuck here, poor me!!!
