you're gunna think this sounds insane, but use beer in your hair. like... mix it with your shampoo and shampoo your hair with it or just pour beer over it. if that doesn't work, use vinegar (it doesn't start to smell like beer or vinegar either way)...

This probably sounds counterintuitive, but try a diluted vinegar rinse. The vinegar smell goes away after the hair is dry. Apple Cider Vinegar will remove any residue and gross stuff that is stuck to your hair. (about 2 tablespoons diluted in a cup of water, douse it through your hair after shampooing, then condition as usual).

Or, you can try a clarifying shampoo or a baking soda rinse, but I would try the ACV first because it kills bacteria.
