Hey girls! Long time, no talk. I've been running around like crazy the
past few months with family issues and other stuff. But I've missed you
all--and it's good to be back.
An update:
My hair is *so* screwed. Overbleaching has taken its toll. I might have
mentioned that when I bleach my roots, it's almost impossible to rinse
the bleach thoroughly out of the braids. Well, last time I bleached, I
must've overlapped too much and not rinsed it out completely, and I
basically fried my hair to about 1/2 inch in certain spots. I truly
look like a crackhead. I still have the same hair in the front, but the
crown is just awful. The PlastikHaar is fabulous; my own is a real
problem, though. I can still wear it in a ponytail, but that's about
it. I must figure out something soon.
The other thing I must figure out is this: How do I go about buying my
own domain name and launching a website? I've done a lot of simple text
coding (not design or hosting) for large sites, but this would be my
own start-up site (not ecommerce, extensions-related, or anything--just
an online magazine). Any suggestions for Web hosting companies? Can I
design the thing and make changes myself? Any ideas about how much
something like this usually costs? Oh, and one other thing...does
anyone know how much it costs to purchase photography? Not celebrity
photos or stock, but images from "emerging" photographers? I know I'm
being a bit cryptic about this, but I'm hoping to segue into something
more entreprenurial over the next year or so. Working in an office for
other people is *killing* me.
Most important, I hope everyone is doing well. Big shoutouts to all the
veterans---Sherrie, Mer, Karen, AMM, Syren, Kristin, SAS, FinaFina,
Tangles, Gina, Bridget, Boogiemama, JulieJ, MochaChip, ShadowF, SPP,
Amanda, Leia, Kalika, Jenn, Kimberly, RoseRose, Rae, Metalgirl, Shel,
Stacy, Emma, SansC, Kirsty, Kat, Marie, Octavia, Erin, Blondie,
Cybermane, Bird, Synne, Chris, Kate, LHD, Samantha, eKatherine,
and HippyHair (I know I'm missing people here). And a big hello to all
the newbies!

Give me a shout in PM if you'd like and I'll make some recommendations of some places and also pass along a site that has free html templates. With an easy program like Front Page, the editing of those plates is a breeze. I think I even have an extra copy of FP if you need it.
Sorry to hear about your hair. With your skin tone, honey blonde with carmel and chocolate highlights would look stunning! Just say no to bleach on bleach!
domain name registration is ~ $30 a year if ai remember correctly, you have to shop around but that's about right.
There are all kinds of hosting services available. Some will do
everything adn charge you if you breatheon the site, others will simply
provide you with storage apace and bandwidth, you will havae to do all
the coding. Everything in between exists. I'll find out who
my friend is using these days, she's of the "I'll do all the work
myself thank you" variety.
Sorry to hear about your fryage. Maybe some clip in wefts for coverage at the top are in order?

Kalika: I am seriously considering switching to wigs and pieces for a while. Are you back in extensions yet?
AMM: Excellent, I'll PM ya. Just say no indeed.
SAS: Fabulous, and thanks for those links. What are you up to, girl?
Mocha: $30 a year is chump change! I'm in. Clip in wefts, perhaps. Just don't know what I'd clip 'em to at this point.
Luckie: How are you? I knew I was forgetting someone. Duh...
What's everyone doing with their hair these days? Still EP, RK, and
FinaWorld for HH and PH & WaWa for synth, or what? Shrinkies still
the method of choice? How bout those fusion chips? PBs and heat-seals?
I'm drooling over Sherrie's latest install and Leia's Boogiemama
masterpiece.

GOT ART???
I thought about you all the time! I got my domain from Register.com but gave it to DROA.com b/c their rates, to me, were a lot cheaper -$25 for 7 years.
thats such a shame about ur hairdid youbleach it yourself?
if your thinking of getting a wig there is a seller on ebay who is selling international wigs but for much cheaper!! i bought a 3/4 wig from him on friday. for£12 half the price of I.W there is a link to it in the post about georgie ponytails.
Hey there Jenny, so glad you're back, I've so missed your very informative posts, they were sooooo interesting. We need you permamently on this board, hey Karen, can't you pay the girl LOL xx
Remember a while back someone posted this wig where you can have your own natural part showing?
Also, if you can get someone to do seamless wefts, it may work for you. I just put them on a client who was bleaching her own hair, and in many spots, her hair was broken off to about 1". Using the sandwich methhod and the No Tape hairpiece adhesive, I put them in and it looked good. (it was hard in the very short spots) They have been in 3 weeks so far, and they are holding in there.
right now im getting ready to do clip ins with Wa Wa. it seems lilke by
far the easiest meathod. (ik girls, ive said im going to do so many
meathods over the past couple of weeks. but clip ins it is. im
positive. well........almost.
learn to love what you were born with
you can do anything if you set your mindto it (just dont try this with hair, that could turn out bad)

Welcome back Jenny! So sorry to hear about the bleach
incident. Maybe it might be worth it to go peroxide-free for
awhile. I'm quite proud of myself...I've used nothing stronger
than Clairol Colorgloss since February. It's tough to quit the
hair-dye habit, but it's worth considering.
