i think that kanye should have written down what he wanted to
say, and rehearsed it instead talking right off the top of his
head, maybe if he did that it would have came out better.

During a nationally televised (NBC, MSNBC, CNBC and Pax) Hurricane Katrina relief show, Kayne West went against George W. Bush, saying "George Bush doesn't care about black people,". "They're saying black families are looting and white families are just looking for food...they're giving the (Army) permission to shoot us"
NBC attempted to cut off the out-of-line remarks by cutting to a shot of actor Chris Tucker. There was a several-second tape delay, but the person in charge "was instructed to listen for a curse word, and didn't realize (West) had gone off-script," said NBC spokeswoman Rebecca Marks.
Both NBC and the Red Cross have issued statements denouncing West's remarks.
The Red Cross statement: WASHINGTON, Friday, September 02, 2005 — The American Red Cross is incredibly grateful for the support we’re receiving in the wake of the catastrophic events caused by Hurricane Katrina. We want to acknowledge the ongoing support of NBC-Universal, which aired a telethon tonight on behalf of the victims of this tragedy.
During the telecast, a controversial comment was made by one of the celebrities. We would like the American public to know that our support is unwavering, regardless of political circumstances. We are a neutral and impartial organization, and support disaster victims across the country regardless of race, class, color or creed. We cannot, and we do not endorse any comments of a political nature. The NBC statment: "Tonight's telecast was a live television event wrought with emotion. Kanye West departed from the scripted comments that were prepared for him, and his opinions in no way represent the views of the networks. It would be most unfortunate if the efforts of the artists who participated tonight and the generosity of millions of Americans who are helping those in need are overshadowed by one person's opinion."

Getting real tight down here in Dallas. Racial tentions are rising as more New Orleans people come into the city. Whites are getting touchy because they "half way" want to blame poor black people for their own conditions. I've heard some Dallas radio shows talking very negatively about our people. It's true and it's a shame. But that's what happens when money and resources are involved. The people who have the resources are selfish and evil spirited, they don't want to share. How can they sit around and watch a whole entire race of people die off like the Native Americans? This is evil.

I saw it live when Kanye said that and to be honest, he was telling the truth. And they just cut it to another speaker as soon as he said it. America does not wanna hear the truth. The majority only wants to hear the abridged, edited, and scripted version of things. I agree that maybe Kanye should've written this down or memorized it but I got mad respect for him saying what is REALLY the deal in this country...
