Speaking of Italian and Spanish hair like we were a few threads down, that brings me to Giovanni & Son. We've talked about them here back in 2004 and lo and behold, you can order online now.

Better yet, they have a physical address. How about it SoCal ladies, can we have someone pop in there and give a report?

I HAVE BEEN THERE!!!   It's a small little shop and as I recall, they didn't sell any hair just 'over the counter' - they had nothing in bags is what I mean. Mostly what they do is custom color blending then they sew the wefts, so you go in, get colorized, place your order, and pick it up some days later. I suppose you could also buy bulk hair - nothing on wefts ready-to-wear I don't think. But that was about 5 years ago.

I couldn't for the life of me remember the name of the place and I lost the business card...so COOOL that you found them online! I'll try to go by there soon and report back.

Go forth and explore and then details, S. Details!

I immediately thought of Sand when I saw G&S were offering single strands for sale. That's a nice option for those who want a few highlight colors without buying a bundle or weft of something.

A bit expensive on a few things but texturizing according to specification is a really nice service if you want to use it.

FHE, please let us know your opinion when it arrives. Would love to see photos if you can.

Their individual strand prices are EXTREMELY reasonable - $1.75 each? I know a woman who charges $10 a strand - TEN DOLLARS! That's the installed price with a microlink. So $10 times minimum 150 strands equals FIFTEEN HUNDRED DOLLARS!!
<faint>
I'm sorry. Even after reading this board for a year and having heard it all, I still can't get past that number.

Now its in the right thread

Has anyone installed the Giovanni Italian hair in the dark colors? Did it hold up well?

I had the blond Giovanni italian Hair installed and it was a  nice texture and soft on install but felt dried out after a few washes and shed a lot. Then I dyed my hair and added hair dreams bonds . I think its hard to find good blond hair but if the dark hair held up I would love to buy some for future installs because it was so thick and soft. I asked my extensionist about the hair and she said they were not online so I was suprised when I found this thread.

here is the pic right after I got the italian hair extensions before blending cut.

FYI.. there are TWO Giovanni & Sons locations. Both are here in So. California. One is in Van Nuys, the other is in Culver City.. My understanding of the difference between the two is that it's the same family, just two different family members run each shop.. I called both, and IMO the customer service at the Culver City location was MUCH better than the Van Nuys location.

Giovanni & Son
4356 Sepulveda Blvd
Culver City, CA 90230
(310) 397-5287

Giovanni and Sons LLC
14318 Victory Blvd
Van Nuys, CA 91401
(818) 908-0183

I plan to make a field trip there myself.. The only thing is the Culver City location is not open every Saturday, so geting down there for me will be challenging.. BUT I intend to visit both locations.. I need to check them out..

Gosh this hunt for hair is OBSESSIVE!!!!

Okay, Where do I start with Giovanni and Sons.........
I live a mile from them and I would NEVER buy from them!!! First, their customer service is the worst. Their hair has grays in it and I saw the pre-tipped hair, it's unprofessional, to say the least.  It looks crappy crappy crappy.

I get angry thinking about my experience with them!!!

It's still a small little shop that doesn't sell anything unless you pre-order.
The customer service is so bad that I want to scream.

Giovani and Sons does NOT install them for $1.75 each. If that's their price per strand than it's a bloody RIP OFF! The strands are not thick and they're pre-tipped by hand, taking the hair off the weft.

i had mine installed by the extensionist cutting it off the weft. i thik it was 8 oz of hair. She charged me 1,000 and it took her like 1 1/2 hrs for a full install. Thanks for the advice. Glad you told me about those pretips before I ordered some.

That's why I want to check out the Culver City store 1st.. I called both stores, and the Culver City store in a round about way admitted that the Van Nuys store is run differently..

I've only been to Van Nuys and believe me, I was hoping they would work out since I can walk there! But it's never that easy.
