hi, everyone!

i'm new to this forum and need some advisen from you professionals!!  this is my 2nd time to have extensions.  my stylist has just started and has done almost 30 people.

she uses a copper clasp?  i'm not sure the real term... she's very vague with me.  i have been going to her for about 1.5 years and she is great with color, cuts, etc. i'm just unsure about her extension ability i guess??

anyway, the first time i got them in (several months ago) i had about 25 shafts come out in 2 weeks!!  she convinced me that it was probably because i got conditioner in my roots... however, i was SOOOO careful b/c they were SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO expensive ($1700 and that was her "deal" for me... normally she charges $2500+!!!!  yikes!).  anyway, they came out and she put them back in and then they came out again... not as many, but as i was brushing my hair or even running my fingers through my hair to get the tangles out, the would come out.

now, this 2nd time around i've had them in for 6 weeks and about 50 shafts have come out.  the first time she put 275 shafts in my hair applying them with a copper clasp and a special tool to clamp them on my real hair.  this second time i have in 250... so i still have in a lot of hair... it's just very obvious taht it is really thin.

is this a good method to do extensions with?  aren't they supposed to last longer?  especially for that kind of money?

i have a friend who has hers woven / braided in?  they seem to do much better, but my stylist says that the clamping is the only safe way????

help!!  i have tried to do some research myself... but would like someone's professional opinion...

thank you!

Sounds like she used copper locs- either hairlocs or pro tubes or something similar-

$2500 is quite alot to spend.

i would go back and her her reinstall all the strands that came out.

you really sound have your hair maintanced every 6-8 weeks anyway.

loosing 40 strands in 6 weeks is a bit on the high side but not unusual.

25 in two weeks- she should be putting those back for no charge.

Not everyone can wear hairlocs, tubes because their hair can be real soft. Thats not to say they will all come out either, seeing that you have so many, i wouldnt stress out too much but i would go back and have her reinstall what did come out.

For your stylist to say that her method is the only safe way is not fair, there ARE lots of other methods, like shrinks that are safe as well.

The part of her being Vague, well to me, that is just not professional, during all my consultations i teach my clients exactly what i do, and what other methods are avail on the market today and all the pros and cons of each of them, then i let htem make an educated decision for themselves.

good luck and i am sure your hair looks great and i wouldnt worry about all of them suddenly falling out,

where are u located anyway?

i do Hairlocs, Tube and shrinks every day and i custom taylor each client for what they need.

i'm in the tampa, florida area.  thanks for your advise.  she keeps implying that it is MY fault they are all falling out and i swear i think it's my hair.  it's good to know that my hair can be too soft :) for this type of extensions.

again, thank you so much!  i wish i had done more research on etensions before i actually had them put in.  i've put A LOT of money into them... because everytime i go back and have her put them in again she charges me about $250!!!  my husband would KILL ME if he knew how much i have spent!!!

thanks again!

correct me if I am wrong, but if they are copper (metal) wont/cant they turn green and tarnish?  And if they are metal, how do they do as far as cutting into your own hair strands?  They arent coated with any "cushioning" right?  Seems like they arent that great, especially if you have soft, fine hair...
