Okay, I was totally excited about getting my first Bohyme order, but upon closer inspection, I'm confused and a bit nervous. I got 2 different colors, and they both have similar, but slightly different packaging. One says "Bohyme Gold - The Finest 100% Remi Human Hair" and the other says "Bohyme Gold Collections - The Finest Human Hair Without Cuticles". One says "New York, Paris, London" and the other says "New York, Chicago, Los Angeles", along with a number of other differences. At first glance they LOOK the same, but are definitely different. So okay, maybe the company revamped their packaging style. Companies do that all the time. BUT one package says that it's the best hair "WITHOUT CUTICLES" and the other says that the secret to Bohyme is that "Cuticle layers are all aligned in the same direction". So what gives? Does it have cuticles or not? I know everyone has given Bohyme great reviews, but now I'm wondering.

Also I have a question for anyone who uses Bohyme with fusion. Do you need to wash it first to get any silicone or other shine agents off? The reason I ask is that I have had really bad shedding from other brands of hair that are highly coated with shine agents. Seems it doesn't allow the fusion glue to adhere well and ends up shedding badly over time.

This is very interesting Bird...cuticle or not?? This may not mean anything...but which package claimed to have cuticles? Is it the NY, Paris, London ....or the one that says NY, Chicago, LA...???

Hmm...thats what I expected. You know we had this whole issue recently (and I dont mean to bring that up again). But the whole UK/US Bohyme issue comes to mind. The US Bohyme claims to be cuticle free. And the UK Bohyme claims to have cuticles...so when you stated the differences in the packaging between the two that you recieved...I just found it very interesting.....the mystery continues......

Hmmm, well if UK Bohyme has cuticles and US Bohyme is cuticle free, then it seems to me that they are two different types of hair and should be differentiated between accordingly. They may very well be of equal quality, but they definitely shouldn't be passed off as the same, becuase even though they may be the same brand, technically and structurally, they are different. I mean, Betty Crocker makes cake mixes in both chocolate and vanilla, but you don't see them passing the two flavors off as the same thing!
Here's some of the packages I've gotten directly from Fashion World (owner of Bohyme.com and registered owner of the trademark 'Bohyme'):
I was told that they have changed their packaging but only slightly as you can see below. Here's an example of the 4 different packages I've recieved:
Even the pictures on the backs have changed slightly.
Click on the picture below and you'll see the difference I found on the front circled in red. The one on the left says 'with cuticles' and the one on the right only talks about it being Remi
Below- See the circled information. One says no cuticles the other says cuticles aligned. I'm a little confused as to what they are saying here. Maybe the cuticles are removed but the hair is left in the same direction as it originally grew in??? Maybe they have changed their processing??? I haven't noticed any difference in the hair though... Hmmm... I really have no idea...
Images from the back of the two left packages:
It does seem a little weird and I'm surprised I had not noticed the different wording. I'll call Rachel tomorrow to ask her about the cuticles and I'll report my findings back to the board. I can tell you that all of the packages shown above are authentic Bohyme from Bohyme.com because I am an authorized distributer and that's where I got them from. Does your package look like one of the ones I posted?
Oh, and to answer your second question: I don't wash the hair before it's installed. I never have and I've been doing fusion regularly for about 2 years.
Both of my different packages look like the ones above. I guess it doesn't really matter to me if they have cuticles or not, so long as it's good hair. I'm really excited to finally try it out, even though the colors may be off. But I still like to know what I'm dealing with.
I thought this when I was getting hair from ebonyline, it said one thing on the front of the package, something something hair without cuticles and then on the back it said the cuticles layers were all aligned in the same direction. I said to my hubby, "eh?" that don't make sense, then the new packaging no longer had conflicting information on the front and back anymore so we probably weren't alone in what we were thinking so they changed it because they were probably sick of people ringing up lol x
I believe both statements are true. You see they claim to remove only minimal amounts of the cuticle and there fore must be alleged in the virgin direction or may still tangle. It's suppose to be stronger than hair that has been fully stripped of it's cuticle.
