QuoteReplyTopic: Short Hair Fiasco-Extensions? Posted: December 23 2005 at 1:53pm
Hi-
My name is Jasmine. I went to Salon Bohemia in Brooklyn which was recommended and did go to before (but 7 years ago). Anyway, my midlength wavy/curly hair was destroyed and replaced with the haircut from Janet of Threes Company. I look like a bad replica of someone from the 80s in the East Village. It is really short with bangs and she razored it to make it thinner so now I feel bald. I have never had a bad haircut so I didn't know what to expect. My hair is curling up now so I just look stupid, and the razored ends are frizzy! When my friends saw it they said , wow, i'm sorry...so i am not exagerrating! Worse, I just started a job at in PR where image is important, and New Year's is right around the corner. Is there anything I can do? Would hair extensions work if my hair is cut in choppy layers? Any experience with extensions and working out? Any good places in NY? How expensive are these? I'm afraid to leave my house! Any advice! I am desperate.
A stylist should know better than to razor curly hair! Razoring on curly hair will always look frizzy.
If enough extension hair is added, it can cover and disguise choppy layers.
I have worn extension for about 15 years now and have been faithfully working out for all those years as well, and it's not a problem with the hair. It is hotter to work out with more hair on the head though.
Ooh, yikes. You should find a really really good extensionist. Bad extensions will not do. I'd spend about 10 hours reading everything on this board for the last year, decide on your method, then use that information to find the right stylist.
If you post pictures, people here will offer their two cents on what method is best. Also, Where do you stand on Hip or funky hairstyling....? You might need to go with the "I did this on purpose" attitude.
