QuoteReplyTopic: too nappy 4 waves? Posted: January 10 2006 at 7:28pm
ok i got a fresh cut about 3 weeks ago and have been following this procedure:
(Monday, Wedneday, Friday)
1. Wash hair every other day and brush during shampoo
2. Brush hair untill dry
3. Put pink lotion on hair and brush (at this time i see my waves and also when my hair is wet)
4. Brush hair
5. Put on du rag and sleep
(Tuesday, Thrusday, Saturday, Sunday)
1. Put pomade on hair (i also see my waves when doing this)
2. Brush hair
3. put on du rag and sleep
where i'm having trouble with my waves is when i wake up my hair is nappy. My grandfather on my dads side was African and i think i got really nappy hair from him but at first i thought that didn't matter but maybe it does. I'm sure i'm brushing correctly though, anyone got any ideas
jes keep brushing so that ur hair is trained to lay down instead of getting nappy.
also, you might not be putting ur du rag on good enough, or you jes may be a wild sleeper. try puttin on 2 du rags or if after you put it on, and ur du rag slides around on ur head, u need to get a different kind of du rag.
another possibility is that you may be pulling at one side to make ur du rag fit tight, but when you pull on one side, the other side messes up.
it could be any or a combination of all these, and there are more possible answers. if you can give any more details, it would help.
but to help after uve taken off ur du rag, go over your hair w/ a soft brush.
mannn, i get d same problem when my hair is high. Your hair jus aint used 2 it yet. Giv it a few months, continue to brush and your hair will get used 2 the continuous brushing and it would eventually lay down and the nappyness wouldnt be as much.

You are in the right place then, My grandfather also was half Nigerian. His pops was from Lagos. Nappy hair is good for waves. And you don have to put a kit/hair relaxer on it to get waves. You just need to put in more work that's all. It takes longer to train Nappy Rootslike Nigeria. Trust me I know.
Look to the skies and keep your eyes on the prize! I been through Hell but, STILL I RISE!
