Ok, this is the second time I've been disappointed with Bohyme! I thought
the first time, maybe I got a bad batch, but I'm on about a week and a
halfs wear on this install and it's very very coarse and tangly already. It
looked great after the first wash, and passable after the second, then all
downhill after that :(
Both times I bought hair with a wave in it. Do you think that might have
something to do with it? Have you guys experienced better quality with
different textures of this hair?
I have treated it reasonably well, I do tease it out, but only at the roots,
and I've used straighteners on it a couple of times when I've worn it
straight... but other than that, I've been pretty nice to it. I haven't even
been blow drying!
Any ideas? I might as well be wearing bss hair at this point it's so bad :(

Where are you buying the Bohyme?

I have always been pleased with it.  For example, I bought some 22" french refined in September of last year, and it's still soft and tangle free.

That's one brand I can usually count on for it's consistency, so sorry to hear you're having problems.

Well the first time I bought it from a bss here in Philly (which was listed as
supplier on the Bohyme site) but when it turned out to be horrible I did
question its authenticity anyway, so this time I bought from ebonyline. But
its still not good :(

Heeeey, I bought 22" silky straight Bohyme from ebonyline for my pro-
flex install that I did last night, and I noticed it was pretty tangly too. So
did my stylist, it kept knotting up on her while she razored it. Thought
that was pretty strange, though it is my 1st time with Bohyme... it had all
the labels and packaging for Bohyme.

Hmmm...

that is weird...I have to agree with metalgirl, generally you can always count on Bohyme's quality being very consistant. This recent batch of Bohyme I bought also had a bit of a problem but it was a shedding issue which isnt really severe. (and may have been caused by not reinforcing the edges of the cut wefts) But tangling, coarsness, dryness, or knotting is generally never an issue with Bohyme. I am at on about 4 weeks with my current Bohyme install and have none of those issues, the hair is still as soft and silky and tanglefree as day one.

One thing I did notice, is that I bought a non-sulfate shampoo and a leave in conditioning treatment. When I used the conditioner it made the hair rough and heavy feeling, and I didnt like it. I knew it wasnt the Bohyme, cause Bohyme is so soft and fine, and it felt kinda strawlike and very heavy. I think it just left to much of a coating on the hair or something.  I changed conditioner and it was fine after that. Maybe try changing a product your using...

i agree definitely sherrie in that on some bohyme i was wearing awhile back i ran out of my regular conditioner and used something else and the hair was...completely tangly, coarse, unruly..all of it. i'd swear it was different hair.

if the hair felt that way right out of the bag, though..that's odd for bohyme. usually right out of the bag for me is when it's smooth, soft, and tangle free. my extensionist said she had a batch of french refined that bohyme (or sold as such) which was totally boofy and dry awhile back - she felt like maybe it was an odd batch.

the conditioners that work a charm for me are goldwell's silk therapy and all soft by redken. HTH.

I just bought a batch of Bohyme from Ebonyline and some pro-tac tapes from Amm, I hope I get a good batch. I will definetely go looking for some sulfate-free shampoo and the conditioner that ccross recommends.

Em

SHE human hair blend, 18", #4 with Supertape.

Amanda, It was Bohyme Gold Body Wave...
I thought it might be product related, as it did feel ok out of the bag and
was after a couple of washes that it started to feel horrid. But thats the way
it generally is for most hair. Even the crappy bss stuff feels nice out of the
bag because of all the coatings. If only I could figure out how to do that
silicon coating in-house! :)
I bought Biolage normalizing shampoo and conditioning balm today as I was
using my bf's Suave before... they are not sulfate free though I just noticed :(
I think I am going to run out and get a shower head filter too as I know some
of you have said thats made a difference to the way your hair feels.

Maybe you can try the Clairol Radiance Color Gloss.  It worked on the Lush hair:  http://www.hairboutique.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=39761& amp;PN=3.

I'm curious to know whether you find anything to help.  I was thinking of ordering Bohyme for my next install....

The UK Bohyme bodywave is holding up real nice. I squeeze in curling creme while it's still somewhat damp and it holds a nice wave to it. I am so unbelievably busy right now and it makes my life easier to be wearing this hair. :)
