I had (past tense) Mark Barrington extensions put in several months ago, only for highlights, about 30 peices.

When she took them out, it was really painful and it took over an hour. She charged me $100!! That might be the going rate but it's really not in my budget. It felt like she was ripping my hair out.

Has anyone heard of this?

Oh so sad to hear you had such a bad experience, how long did you have them in? Did you register what she used to remove them?

I always heard so much good things about MB, if your hair was damaged by the incopatance of the Stylist you should report Him/here to MB.....

So did she rip out your hair or did it just feel like it ? o.o

*hugs*

Ya know, I felt like she was pulling my hair out. It was truley a painful
experience. I would never get those again. It was so agonizing, making my eyes tear.I was pinching my hand to distract the pain and I'm not one of these sensitive scalp types.

I had them in for six weeks. She used something that smelled like acetone to take them out. I think it was MB's product.

I didn't know I could give feedback to Mark Barington. I guess look on his website?

Oh my lord, removal should never my painfull!! Did you complain to here about the pain/and or hairloss? I know its a uncoformtable situation, it`s not so easy to speek up:( been there...

If it was just the pain and no damagde/hairloss i think a sit down with your stylist will be suffeciant? i dunno.

But umh i would first sit down and have talk with your stylist about the problem. If she is not to be resoned with i would then contact Mark Barrington inc.....

We have a talentet and knowledgable girl here Metalgirl who does MB shrinkies , i hope for here input^^

I've never had MB shrinks, but I've had the lovely experience of having my hair pulled out of my head during a GL removal. Not pretty.

Good luck with future methods (anything has to be better than that!)

:)

I have been doing Mark Barrington shrink links for several years, and also wearing them myself as well, probably for about 4 years.  Your  stylist is to blame, not the method, for she  was not careful in removal if you experienced pain or a 'pulling'.  The method is an excellent method, I have built a very profitable business on this method.  If they keep coming back, it can't be all that bad...

Anyway, with every method, the stylist needs to take extreme care upon removal.  With the MB method, you reheat the shrink link, and the hair strand slides out easily.  There should be no pain involved.  Then you use the orange solvent to break up the residue, which should come out easily too.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience, but fire the stylist, not the method.  When I was living in Reno, NV and having a stylist install shrinks on me, she would not use the orange remover to get out the residue, she just ripped my hair out.  She didn't want to use the orange stuff because she felt it was too greasy to get out of the hair in preparation for a re-install.  ( not correct either, washing 3 times with dish soap takes out all oils) Well, I stopped going to her, and taught my mom how to install my shrink links.

Shrink links is one of the only methods that I have found that does not damage the hair so a person can actually grow their hair out while wearing it.

I couldn't imagine this method being so painful. It seemed like the stylist couldn't get the glue out and she was using a comb to try and pull through it. She also put curly extension hair in my straight hair. She knew it was curly because per my request, made the hair blonde for the highlights. So naturally she had to have flat ironed it before I arrived. That really bothered me.

Anyway, I'm glad to hear this method is not what it appeared to be. I thought  they were great because there wasn't any shedding and not a lot of slippage.
