Yes, you can do fusion in your hair, some just prefer not to use this method.

Yes, we can get fusion, it just depends on what method your stylist recommends or does. I offer them in my salon.

The individual would need a consultation before deciding first. The shr**** wouldn't be a good turnout, because we use oil on our hair and excess heat. Not all of us, but some. Silicone-lined rings would be okay, the regular fusion would be better. And yes, there is a lot of information on this board .

Shirly are you talking about silcone lined micro rings ? I thought this also slipped ? When it comes to any forms of strand by strand hair extensions and oil the two I have found don't mix well.

There are a lot of factors when it comes to oil with extensions, depending on:

Point of attachement-meaning if the bond is not properly attached the extension can slip out.No you cannot shampoo your extensions for at least 48 hours. The bond has to set, so if instructions are not followed then they can pose a problem.  And as far as microrings, I have done the maylasian method on one of  my clients and  she uses oil, she had minimal sliding and that was because of the texture of her hair and no hair was inserted in the tube with the ring. So all it really boils down to is different strokes for different folks. It just depends on how clients take care of their hair.

i have a friend that wants to get them done, but i am a diy-er and have not done it on ethnic hair before (only straight/ wavy hair). She would still like me to do them for her. would it require the same prep? wash with clarifying shampoo, and straighten/iron?

Yes ma'am. Our culture is cloned to a certain extent. Some of us produce more oils than others. you can determine a healthy head of hair by appearance and feel. Examples are medications, chemicals,  poor diet, stress, hereditary and other factors when it comes to hair health. We do have to put moisture back into our hair because of the use of those factors.

Shirlyn where did you learn how to do the maylasian method ? I have heard that extension techinque does hold better with clients that use moisturizer/oil in their heads.

Hi, neosoulsenhora, I learned from Marcella Ellis,Inc. She said to use the rings so that there is no slippage. It takes a lot of practice because if you don't apply so many rings, or connect the thread at the beginning of the track correctly it will slip. I wished I would have researched more before I paid her my money, but I did get a certificate of completion and I learned four techeniques .

And some of us don't use pink or white moisturizers on our hair, we may oil our scalp/hair with a service called a "hot oil treatment" or, we may apply a oil ,on dry hair, such as hot six oil, olive oil ect. A lot of people believe in using oils, it goes back into the days of having your hair pressed with "grease" petroleum. I will not press anyone's hair in my salon, you talking about scared for life that's me. You could literally smell your hair burining; I would cringe at her catching all those baby fine hairs around the hairline and edges. It just sends chills up and down my spine every time I think about it..............

Sorry........I got carried away.......Shiry

Shiry, you dredge up bad memories.  I have shrinks in my head right now, and I use conditioner and oils with no problem.  The only ones I've lost are the ones my 22 month old pulled out.  I never oil my scalp, but I use mango butter or olive oil on my hair.  I even touched up my relaxer with the shrinks installed.  I went from January to April with them, and took them out and reinstalled with more rkhair.  I had to do a sew in track or two on the top to keep the shrinks from peeking through.  So far so good.  Oh the rk hair I have is pretipped with keratin, so that combined with the adhesive lined shrinks, I feel pretty secure that they are going to start falling out at work.

Ive heard LOADS of good things on Pinchbraids, that they rarly slip eaven with using loads of conditioner...I can imagine all the products will weaken the fusion bond:D but if your careful i think it will go just fine..!:D Good luck gewrl
