bond question

when you guys install highlights, is it reccomended to use the color of glue/microlink/shrinkie, that matches the root of the clients hair or the actual strand?

 

for example, my hair is black, and if i wanted to install blonde streaks, would i use black glue/mricrolink/shrinkie, or blonde?

i would do the same,with micro links i use the same colour as the root if you insert the strand under the natural hair cause they tend to hold their position. if you do it the other way, match to the hi lite.
