****Pinky21--theres a product i just found out about, its all natural for thin-to-thick hair by Jasons.Revitalizing Scalp Elixir. you leave it in at night and rinse the following morning. My mom is experiencing the same problems; however she had a relaxer and her hair was shedding and resulted in a bald spot, she then went to her hairdresser who told her to apply a "kiddies" perm, following this, 1 week later which is today, she used TCB relaxer.
My mom over processed her already damaged hair. So i told her about the scalp elixir, i hope she tries it and i hope you do the same.
well.. googd luck.. i gave you all the info i got, if i come up w/ something else, ill let you know.
peace.

I surely learnt something tonight thanx to Pocahontas, i wouuld take her advice of using a light moisturizer with hair oil over it.
I have a confession to myself and the forum__ i have never bought a moisturizer, i used blue duchess and bergamont grease which im getting rid of. maybe this was the reason why my hair was coming out so much in the center.
PINKY21, Im on the hunt for a light moisturizer w/o petrolatum/mineral oil
any siggestions? Did you find one? Somebody...help..?

ORS Carrot Cream is water based, and also mineral and petroleum free. But, keep in mind that it has protein also. The Cantu is also an excellent product.

But when I was going to the beauty salon every week, I went that long without getting a relaxer and since I have posted that first question I trim my ends every month. Thanks though!
Can carrot oil be used as a substitue instead of Cantu oil? Will all that oil where my hair down?
The Cantu is not an oil, it's a moisturizer (I think it's called Cantu Grow Strong). The reason you need to use a moisturizer is because oils alone can't provide moisture....only seal it in. You don't have to use cantu....any water based moisturizer free of mineral oil and petroleum will due. Use a light oil over the moisturizer to seal it in. It shouldn't weigh your hair down.

I try to eat healthy where I can afford it. I don't drink sodas, eat greasy foods, drink lots of water, and stay away from fried foods. I did not know African American women can put stuff on their hair before they go to bed because of the grain of our hair. So I don't put anything on my hair at night except when I warap my hair a silk scarf.
Yeah, you should moisturize your hair every night or every other night. This will help a lot w/ breakage. Also when you moisturize it's good to use a light oil to seal in the moisture. I suggest Cantu as a moisturizer and olive oil or wild growth oil to seal it in.

I wrap my hair at night and I think it is pretty healthy. I use KeraCare and Mizani products but in the morning when I take it down my hair sheds on the back of my clothing. I can't afford the beauty salons so what can I do to stop my hair from doing this?
