when i used the short silcone line rings, when they are closed, the are wider then like the tubes or locs, so now u will have a longer, wider shell hanging on your hair.
i wish they could line the protubes with silcone, however it wont work because there has to be room for the silcone.

So which would you say is kinder to your hair? the silicone lined links or the protubes? im thinking the protubes will be less visible? but im also thinking the silicone lined links would grip the hair better and cause less damage...
I agree. I think I have some proshells, i will have to check. I don't have the right size. i have the 3mm if i have them, those are to big. They sent me that flyer in the mail, and said they were the only ones that carried the long rings. ........I don't think so.
I have some of those long silicone microrings. The guy from korea sent me a sample with my last shipment. I tested just a few, but I didn't like them. They are too long and thus harder to conceal in the hair and they don't flatten down as nicely.
I regularly use the 2mm inside diameter silicone rings and sometimes I use the 1.5mm inside diameter ring.
I love the shorter silicone rings. I think they are less damaging than the protubes. They sure hold a lot better than protubes too. I don't even bother with the other rings now, it's just the silicone lined rings. I use them almost exclusively for all strand installs.
Yeah i was wondering the same thing, they always say to have the a decent amount of natural hair holding on to the extension so i would have thought you would need 3mm at least (if ure pretip is 1.5mm wide).
I have no problem fitting the hair thorough the 2mm inside diameter rings. I use either short2long's hair or sometimes Hairpieces' flashpoint. I can use the 1.5mm inside diameter ring if the tip is very thin, as is the case in the EP softwear hair tips.
When I make my hand tipped hair, I also have no problem making them fit into the 2mm or the 1.5mm rings. I have been doing some Prohair that I made into tips and apply with rings and that is no problem either.
In any case, if the tip is still too think, I just reheat it and reroll it smaller.
I have found the rings with the 3mm inside diameter are too big and there is a lot more slippage with them. I will not use that size. You want the tightest fit that you can get with the rings. I probably have done over 100 installs with these rings, so I think my evidence is pretty reliable.
I have come close to trying out those silicone rings. I just figured that the silicone lining would make it easier for the hair to "slip" underneath....especially if you got any conditioner or serum close to them by accident. It sounds like they are pretty secure though. I have been traveling to Atlanta from NC to wear pinchbraids. They are a bit bulkier than a micro-ring install...but these suckers are so secure, I haven't lost a one! I am in a rock band and toss my head around quite a bit-- LOL...so I am always worried the silicone micro-rings would slip on me. Maybe not, it seems....
I love the Short2long hair. The tips are extremely long, that was the reason I was looking at getting the longer ones. When I did my install on my clients I love them, they don't budge. Metalgirl how have you been?
Short2long just recently included a new line of hair that they call they Remi Euro fine. I guess it's supposed to be cuticle hair. I mostly had good luck with short2long, but I have had some crappy batches too. What I do like about Short2long is that they have wavy and curly hair that is already pretipped. That's hard to find, so I continue to order from them.
They do have fast shipping too and they are reliable.
I'm doing pretty good most days, thanks for asking. This heat in CA was really kicking my butt though! I'm glad it has cooled down a bit!
Shirilyn, just thought id let you know i ordered from international wig and as an international buyer it took about 6 weeks for my colour ring to arrive...it didnt get held up at customs so im not sure what happened with that, was posted airmail post too. I would reorder from them but i dont have 6 weeks of my life to waste waiting for microrings to arrive LOL. I cant say how good their domestic postage is but id say it would have to be far better than their international otherwise theyd be outta business!
One of my best friends ordered the keratin nail tips to install some bulk hair. I forewarned her.
They arrived 9 days later (shipped from CA & we're in CA!) and were broke to bits. Worse still, they were completely white like chalk. The place wouldn't exchange even with the offer of returning them.

You can cut the tip down if necessary.
I cut the tips down. You wanna talk about heat! Come to Texas, it is hot here! I used the yaki textured on one of my clients and she had the hairlocs hair installed. I installed the siliconed lined rings in with the hairlocs and it blended to a T. I don't know if both companies use the same hair or not, but the hair is exactly alike.
