just a note: making tracks w/ the microring: going in is a breeze. coming out, i had a terrible time! it was such a pain (and i mean *PAIN*) to work the pliers in there and undo the ring that i'd NEVER try it again! so much of my hair was broken or cut, the rings kept folding, it was hard to keep the ring still to open them... just a bad scene.
the other method looks like it would put too much strain on your natural hair...
what I'm wearing: 1 pkg 18" DLux SS #2 and protac

i have installed micro ring wefts like the second link explained loads of time and never had a problem with taking them out..the only problem that i keep getting is clients pulling them with the hair brush so i have now decided not to use this method anymore.. altho its the fastest method to install and take down for me anyways, ive also worn this method myself and not had any problems but only worn it for a max of 1 month. hth xx
i have very fine thin hair.......my own mother says i have 'baby hair' (she has thick good hair, thanks for giving me your hair daddy!)....i wore individual microrings and my hair just couldnt take it
soooo, i can just imagine the weight of a weft hanging by a few microring'd strands of my 'baby hair'..... poiiingg poiiiing poiiiing (that's the sound of my hairs pulling out)
Those methods are the Malasian Method, right? Correct me if I'm wrong. Mochachip from this forum had that done and it didn't damage her hair. She loved it.
I just saw a technique on a website that attached two wefts together. They used thread every few inches to attach them together. They placed them on the persons ahead (not stacked up but opened) They pulled the persons hair out from two separate parts of the weft and glued them together, doing so about every four inches. The natural hairs were being pulled from opposite ends. After that was completed, they folded over the other weft over the glued one! Just another innovative NEW method! It's probably hard to envision but I can't remember the website.
I just cut and pasted this "new method" off a site. It's called microrings!
The initial fee may sound like more than it really is. Keep in mind the hair is reusable. The other leading strand-by-strands systems out there do not offer this high quality. They will charge you from $1400 to $2000 EVERY time they need maintenance! They actually CANNOT even maintenance them because the hair is not reusable! You will have to keep buying new "bundles" of hair.
Now the numbers:
Extensions for volume ranges from $500 to $1,500.
To change your length at all, the price range is from $1,500 to $3,500.
The price is based solely on your desires and needs.
I have worn this method myself and have found it to be easy to take out the micro rings without any pain, I just sat on the sofa and squeezed the micro ring open with a pair of plyers and they slide right out. But I suppose everyone has there own methods they liek best.
Bella . . . I've used a microring with weft method 4 separate installs now (on myself). In fact, I just took out my latest install yesterday and will re-install tomorrow. I'll try to get newest pics to the photobucket album.
The first time I purchased the ready-made weft with microrings sewn on them (EZ Weft). Their video tutorial was very helpful and the method looked great, so I had to try it! For that install I purchased the 16" length and enlisted a beautician who was willing to learn how to install from the video. She did a great job and the install took only 1-1/2 hours. However, the hair was a yaki type, and tangled so much that I couldn't wait to get them out! And the rings were very small, placed down from the weft a bit and were very difficult for me to remove by myself. They wouldn't open up so I ended up using nail clippers to get them out.
I then ordered Bohyme Gold in 22" length wefts. I measured my wefts across my head then cut. To seal the ends of those cuts I "seared" them with a lighter and have no shedding. (I see other members use different glues). I had some microrings left over from hisandher and these were much sturdier than EZ's. I zig-zag sew 2 wefts together before putting on the rings. I sew my rings about 1-1/2 inches along each weft (by hand) using wig thread. I hang a mirror in front of me, so that I can see my back side when I'm installing. It works, but would be much easier if I had assistance on the back. You have to get the pliers to clamp just right so that you can open them again.
I used the silicone-lined microrings this last time and found they hold very well. My only problem was that some of them squished out the silicone when I clamped with the pliers. I then had to clip the bad ones out and sew in a replacement ring (while on my head - tricky!). I'll use the silicone ones again, but will use a smaller ring for the top weft. The silicone ones seem more noticeable to me. I'm still playing with exactly where I should sew the ring onto the weft - but so far I prefer them JUST above the weft. See the pics by clicking link on my signature. This allows me to get the plier back into place for removal.
I see rings available that have thread grooves on the inside and I won't try those - they MUST be hard on the hair! The reason I use leaders inside the ring is so that I can grab enough of my hair to pull through, without injury to the silicone. When you pull the leader full of hair back through the ring it should give just a little resistance, too much means you have too much of your own hair and need to reduce that, or too little resistance means you risk a ring that is going to "slide" out on you.
Another reply here made on brushing . . . I use an extension brush only on my scalp and haven't had any rings pull. I then use a good regular brush from the length of hair.
I have had great luck with the microring/weft method all in all and will continue to use this for another year (?) until my own hair is a few inches longer. The only downside is having to resew the rings in place for each install. If I were to do my hair completely in one day to include uninstall, color, condition, sew in rings/re-install, blend - it's a good 6-8 hour process. But that is doing it myself. A helper would cut the uninstall/install time in half. Best of Luck to you, hope this helps you!
