I have thin fine hair and I am willing to pay just about any price to get it to look fuller and better. What do you thin haired folks use to get fatter locks?
My business partner at my software company has been using Matrix Amplify shampoo and gel for about a year and he loves how thick and full it makes his hair. He used the root lift but feels that the gel alone is just great. This guy has really thin and fine hair. I tell him that it looks like he has feathers instead of hair. :-)
Another friend of mine has been using the Edwin Paul volume mist. She uses the little bottle, stashes it in her purse and can use it for touchups during the day. She loves the way the mist is so light yet it pumps up her hair. She doesn`t like gels because they are sticky to her and the mist will settle into the hair cuticle and help plump it up without any stickiness.
While my business partner likes the ARTec Volume shampoo and gel, he does not believe it holds as well as the Matrix for him. This man would pay just about anything for the Matrix because it has made such a major difference in his hair. He liked the ARTec but just not as much as the Matrix.
Matrix also makes Vavoom but I heard that it can be harder to find.
Jeff Hines from HairBoutique.com swears by Edwin Paul Classic Shampoo to swell his cutile and then he finishes with Deep conditioner. His hair is gorgeous but so long it is hard to see if the volume really helps.
I have gotten great reports of Aveda`s Confixer for some volume but lots of hold.
I personally don`t use volume products EXCEPT on my bangs because they will cause your cuticle to swell and it will potentially accelerate hair color fading. I have my hair highlighted so I have to be careful not to use a volume product.
I do alternate the Matrix Amplify gel with the Edwin Paul volume gel on JUST my bangs when I want them really full and thick. Otherwise I use a leavein conditioner since I have naturally thick hair and don`t try for volume except at my roots.
Paul Penders has an all organic shampoo that is designed to plump up fine hair. I have heard good things about that from Jean Colombo who works part time for HB.com. She tested the PaulPenders products and gives them a big thumbs up. She is very into all natural products.
I hope that helps. There are many other volume products out there....any comments from others?
Best wishes, Karen

I have really fine and thin hair and have tried all the above products plus many, many more and haven`t really had any success. The Edwin Paul products are probably about the best but tend to build up in my hair. I think the answer is in the cut. I am still looking for the perfect cut. I did well with chin length blunt bobs. They looked good and stayed in place but they do get boring. Forget long hair--it will always look awful.
If you find something that works, please post it!
