Hi there,
I've read this forum for quite some time and got Bohyme Silky Straight hair sewn in (track method) about 2 months ago.
I recently moved to LA and desperately need to get these tracks removed. It's starting to look really bad.
I have a few options:
1. I have a lady who is willing to do the Shrinkies method for free as long as I purchase the hair which may cost around 200-400 dollars. She works at a salon so I'm assuming she will be using the install for promotional reasons...to show future clients, etc.
2. Alternatively, I could just purchase my own hair online and do the protac method, but I'm not sure I could do it myself...even though it looks so easy.
3. I could always just do the sewn in tracks again for a total cost of probably $300-$350 (including another bag of Bohyme...I still have some left over from my last install).

I'd be leary about anyone in Los Angeles who is doing a shrinkies install for $200-$400. This is an average price for a full sew-in in this area, but strand methods are always AT LEAST twice this amount.. How many heads has she done?? Have you seen pictures of her work??? Does this price include the cut and styly or simply just installing the hair??
Also if you don't mind me asking... what's the name of the stylist/salon?? (you can PM this to me if you don't want to post it here..)
If you opt for the sew-in, will this same stylist also do that for you as well???

The name of the stylist is Lorena and she said she works at a salon in Santa Monica, but I have not found out the exact name as I have only emailed back and forth with her twice. I'm also not sure how many heads she's done. I'll be sure to ask. I don't think I want Sew In again because I heard it was bad for the hair. I'd like to try the strand by strand method next.

I'm in the west Los Angeles area, well the South Bay area specifically. Perhaps you guys could point me in a better direction? I'm kind of lost here! I'm willing to drive a distance so long as it's worth it.

Any method is potentially damaging if improperly cared for.. I've been wearing sew-ins primarily off and on for the last 20 years.. I've had NO damage from this method..
Ask her how many heads she's done, and go to her salon and see her in action.. That price for a strand method in Los Angeles is AWFULLY low.. Makes me wonder about her experience level.. I would go to her salon and ask a BUNCH of questions..

If she's willing to do the method for free, I'd imagine it's because she wants to practice a method that may be new for her. That's not necessarily bad, but just keep in mind that it may or may not turn out alright.

I agree.. and the number of heads done MAY NOT be a bad thing.. If she's a skilled stylist it could go either way.. I guess my point is make sure she's a skilled stylist first and foremost.. And give me her number.. if she's good for that price in LA??? well hell I could think about switching methods too!
