Hi all,

Any stylists have a recommendation for a good quality professional curling iron? I just went through *yet another* Conair this morning. :-(

Also -- my hairsylist has a really nice curling iron; I wish I remembered the brand. It`s black with a gold barrel and really HOT! Anyone have any ideas as to which brand this might be?

Sounds like the Gold n` Hot brand. They are black with the gold barrel. Used by professionals and available in beauty supply stores like Sally`s. They have ten different heat settings, from gentle warmth to broil/fry/cook/cremate. Hope this helps. Good luck!

I got a curling iron with a gold barrel and 10 heat settings at Sally`s and I love it. But it isn`t black, it is green. Apparently the black ones have a funky handle that is more difficult to use.

I use a Revlon 1 inch curling iron that has 20 heat settings. It works really well and has lasted for a year so far.

Ok you are thinking of Helen of Troy Hot Tools. You can get them two different ways:one with the regular handle and one with the long handles. Here the beauty college is required to use the longer handled ones. I can`t think of what they are called. these things can withstand being left on all day everyday. and they heat up fast. I used to go thru irons and blowdryers like no tomorrow then I found these.

I have their blowdryer and two curling irons in different sizes. I have also had them for 4 years now and they are still going strong. I use to curl my hair everyday. I also used them to curl hair for the Pro Rodeo Court for the last 2 years. :)

Are the longer handled ones called tongs?

I use this brand and have had very good luck with them. With 3 women in the house using the same curling irons for 6 yrs -- that should stand for something!
