Ok here we go. first off put a piece of tape on a surface that can get hot, I have a glass coffee table, works like a dream. The tape sticks to the table. Tape a piece of Organdy ribbon over the top covering the tape, you can add a piece of tape underneath it if you want. http://i156.photobucket.com/albums/t8/valentine319/100_1390.jpg
Using your fingers spread the hair out, if you have too much hair above tape, pull one side of the tape loose, keep your hand on all the hair & shift it down a bit.
Next. take a drop of hot glue & secure ribbon to extra ribbon on side so it lines up.
If you get too much glue on it use a nail file to smooth it out, also too little put another glob between the 2 ribbons. Do not stick use your fingers to smooth the weft.
Alternations: if you wanted no sew silicone wefts, you could use either GE Silicone I for Doors Windows (not with bioseal that is number II). You have to wait until there is no stinky smell, couple weeks to ensure all the curing toxins have evaporated. You would need to use the organcy ribbon on one side to resemble an almost invisible weft otherwise the silicone will slide right out of your hair. Same directions with polyseam (home depot caulk), one layer of organdy ribbon at bottom. Polyseam will degrade with acetone & goo be gone. Trick to using the silicone or polyseam is tape down like before & use the shishkabob stick to smooth it out. Then take a piece of tape over the top of the silicone or polyseal & let it dry.
Hot glue, for the original ones. they sell sticks that dry clearer, I bought it at a fabric store. Glue gun..I bought one for $5 from Ad tech Project Pro. Here is the pic. The littler tip make it easier to make it less messy. with the organdy it is kinda rough and almost invisible. I tried putting a pic of the glue gun but it got removed from the photobucket. If you use any of the caulk sealants, you can easily remove dried silicone hair that is stuck to the table with a razor blade, it makes the weft smooth.
Oh and if it helps think sandwich, (tape on bottom not necessary if glass), tape down ribbon, tape hair over ribbon, hair going above ribbon smoothing out hair, top layer of tape lines up with bottom of ribbon ( line of hot glue slightly above the masking tape. Pull another piece of ribbon over the top, lining up with bottom ribbon. Pull to the right & rub into hair & ribbon in a \ motion to the right with a shishkabob stick.
think ribbon (bread), hair (meat), hot glue (mayo), shishkabob (knife), & top ribbon (bread), tape just keeps a nice straight line no glue everywhere. But you're taking and instead of running the knife over the top of the mayo over the bread to mush it into a line.
Let dry, trim ribbon in half hortizontally & trim sides...wa laa! Oh and this is simple and fast if you have questions I'm more than willing to answer and walk you through it. once you understand the mentality you're set!

Oh and do not feel bad if you have any questions. PM me and I will explain. If you want the caulk versions (a bit more flexible, hot glue harder) please, do not use any other brand other than an online green brand, 100% silicone brand, or polyseal. Let cure like recommended. Reason, read the back of the package, so many scary ingredients. Tolulene alone can poison you for months. I know I know I'm overly aprehensive. My exhusband got tolulene poisoning & it took 3 months to be able for him to hold a job or to sleep less than 20 hours a day. This was a man who would work 18 hours a day and couldn't leave bed. Can't risk everyones health, use hot glue first. Polyseal next for disposable hair, then silicone, please give it till it no longer smells in any way, if you can store it somewere away from you please do. NO SILICON II.
Valentine--great work! I wasn't expecting to see this till next weekend but I checked anyway and voila :) I'm soooo excited and I already have a small glue gun (if I can find it in the boxes I'm still unpacking) with the small clear glue.....guess that will motivate me to finish my move and get into my new house.
Did you use yours for clip ins only or also use something like protac? Just curious.

After that just remove the tape, trim the edges, & you can trim the ribbon in half. Hope that helps, oh don't do it on a granite counter top, it's too cold & the hot glue sets really fast.

You cannot flat iron them. They will melt they will get slightly tacky while blow drying but not enough for your hair to stick to it. On another board someone recommended keratin sticks, keratin would work too.

I did a full head install, slight change, no ribbon on the top. Use multitemp glue not high temp hot glue. You might have to flip it over & run more hot glue over the ribbon just to ensure they are sealed. They lie really flat, they glue really tight.
I removed the 4 I had in for the last week. Usually it takes very little to make them come out, I have a really oily hair that breaks down protac, LG. But these really stuck. the weft is about 1/8 inch. The hot glue will hold LG but hot glue alone is not strong enough to make a weft. Silicone must have the ribbon on both sides. Silicone will slide right out of your hair after less than a day.
Valentine--I was searching for the ribbon like that and couldn't find any at the local walmart (grrrrr), where did you find it and did you just use white? I was looking at some online sources and I was sort of wondering if a color like the lightest part of the hair (in this case a gold blond) would hide more in my hair? Of course if I use them with protac my actual hair would cover anyway. Not sure, but can you send me a source for the ribbon? I have the glue gun ready to go :)

Joanne Fabrics (most fabric stores)-it looks slightly see through & a bit shimmery but tones down with the glue. The jury is still out on if these will hold out in the long run. I bought a gold toned organdy ribbon 15 feet 1/4 inch for $1.50. It pretty well turns see through so I don't feel that's an issue. I only use them for the bottom now, to add more hair, flip over & reseal. I trim the ribbon down & install ribbon side down.
