I wouldn't bcse i think the perming chemicals are going to fry your extensions. It can be touchy just coloring them. Plus, even if you used one of the more gentle perming solutions I really believe you'd be shortening the life of your extensions. And especially the bonds...you won't be able to get close enough to the scalp for body at the roots so you'll still have at least an inch or two that's straight, not to mention what the chemicals will do to break down the adhesive.
Probably better off to use a curling iron for this install, then buy bodywave or whatever texture hair you're looking for next time.
I don't know about Great Lengths. Given the price of this hair and the short time it can be worn, I personally wouldn't perm it.
I have, however, permed extension hair before with success. Do not use the neutralizer. Toss it. For the final rinse, use plain water and air dry. Or, I've used a 50/50 combination of water and Infusium 23 and let it air dry.
I have permed hair extensions and as AMM says, don't use the neutralizer, let it air neutralize for 48 hours. This however must be done off the head. If you try to perm extensions while they are in your hair, you are risking breakage to your natural hair due to the added tension of the hair extensions.
Why no neutralizer? If you perm your extensions while they're on your head I can't see how you won't get perm on your natural hair and that has to be neutralized. I've permed my natural hair with fusion in it and of course it get's on some of the extension hair. I've had no problems with the neutralizer. Enlighten me Divas.

MSHONEY...i think that AMM and metagirl were saying that you have to perm the hair off your head..in other words...dont perm your hair and extensions together...I dont see that being a good idea...I think they are saying do it as it says..and just dont use the neutralizer...Im gonna try it this week before I redo my hair..hopefully it works! :-)

I was told in a class that I took at New Concepts Hairgoods that the chemcial in the neutralizer is too drying for hair that is already so processed. Any human hair, whether on your head or extension hair, will neutralize itself within 48 hours. Therefore, on extension hair, you wrap it in your rods, apply, process, and rinse the perm, and then let it sit (with rods in) for 48 hours undisturbed. It works really well.
Hi Metal girl are you selling your flat strand method? I would love to try it. Do you need the typical 3-4 inches of hair to cover them? How are they made, with the hair pre-tipped with your adhesive?

Do you like your Great Lengths? I had them installed very beginning of Feb and they are all out now- for the price they should have stayed in- i refused to go back to teh stylist because i was so upset and just wanted them out adn they were coming out on their own so i didnt need her.
I hope you have great luck w/your GL's and im sure your stylist did a better job than mine!
