Hi. I am new to sew in wefts and have only ever done fusion or strand by strand in the past so I was concerned about shedding of the bio hair while wearing a weave.

I know with strand by strand extensions, the hair from your own scalp continues to shed like normal and get caught in the bond so it builds up over time. I think the average is about 100 hairs a day are lost and that would happen normally anyway.

With bonds, the hair is stuck in there and naturally needs to be dealt with after some time has passed. So what happens with a sew in exactly? Those of you that have worn them successfully over a period of time? I am hearing the average time between maintenance is about 8 weeks give or take. When you take them out, is that dead hair all caught up in the weave and just needs to be combed out, cleaned and reattached? Let me know the process if you don’t mind explaining. Thanks.

Hi There, yes the hair that shed is still caught in there and comes out upon removal. I keep mine in for six weeks but I could probably go a week longer?

I see. So they take out the weave, maybe comb and wash the dead hair all out and then braid you back up? That seems not to bad and easier then all those little bonds. Sometimes I went too long and would actually start to get little balls of hair at the attachment, bad bad bad. Im lucky I have any hair at all. lol
