I'm african american and i have been growing my hair out since April. I have been doing this because i want to have curly hair like bobby valentino or will smith. right now my hair is a little afro with little naps in them (lol). I want to go to a stylist at maybe hair cuttery so what should i do or is there something special product to make my hair curly like that or what. any help is greatly appreciated thanks

Bottomline is that you can't "make" your hair into any texture.. It is naturally whatever texture it is.. If you want to "make" your hair a particular texture, you will need to use some sort of salon permanent  process to create the curls.. (This is what mrclean was suggesting as well..)
