QuoteReplyTopic: Problems with my fusion Posted: July 05 2007 at 1:33am
I have been wearing extensions since 1993. Have tried almost everything. I decided to try one of the new forms of fusion using the U-tipped hair, it was put in 2 weeks ago and last week one came out in the back, and this week one at the temple, both by the roots. I noticed a bump where the hair came out and irritation. Does anyone know what is causing this?
Well It has been confirmed by two stylists looking at my pics that do SoCap...my extensions are not SoCap and they were improperly installed. I'm bummed. I'm going to try and find someone to take these out for me, but so far I've had no luck finding someone local to do it. So how would I go about getting these out myself if I had to?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I don't think you're going to go bald. It's normal to lose a few bonds. When your natural hair sheds, the bonds attached to them will come out.
Now if the bond isn't secure enough that may cause you to lose them too. If they are too close to the scalp (a sore scalp or tightness might indicate this) brushing and combing can cause it to be pulled out by the roots. Or if the bond is too heavy from not being attached to an equal or near equal amount of hair the weight( more hair in bond than in the section of your hair it's attached to) of the bond can cause it to be ripped out by the roots too.
How does your hair feel in general? Does it feel like it's too tight or pulling your hair? Do you know what system your stylist used?

Thanks for the reply MSHONEY, your imput is very much appreciated. And no I didn't think I would go bald either.
The Stylist says she used SOCap, but the regional rep is looking at the an extension I sent her because it doesn't have there Logo embossed in it. And you can see that some of the hair, the brown, is a different texture than the blonde. She also combined some red she had from another brand with the brown. And everything is shedding. I am not pleased at all. I paid $560.00 for 4 ounces of hair that is not european, it is good asian hair at best.
My head feels ok a little itchy. I've worn mega hair before and dome hair and had no problems. I have very fine, fragile hair due to my connective tissue disease and the meds I have to take for it.
I could see this possibly happening in a month but it does cause me some concern that two, in two different places, have come out by the roots in less than two weeks. And the roots still had white at the ends of them.
I feel I need to find another extenionist to look at this, just in case it was put in wrong and I'm going to lose alot more by the roots of my hair. I just don't know who to call.

I paid by check, which was cashed instantly. When I went in for a consult the other stylist and owner said they took credit cards, but the woman who did my hair said she wouldn't take a credit card for extensions.
Are you in Missouri? I know there are alot of stylists up in KC and St. Louis. I live in Hollister, which is real close to Arkansas.

It sounds to me like your hair is not strong enough to support the fusion hair extensions. Some people, with fine and thin hair, their hair is just not 'anchored' into the scalp that good, therefore any little tension will pull out the hair.
Any extension that causes that red, bumpy irritation should be removed. It you let that go for too long, yes you could get permanent alopecia (baldness).
The problem also could also be caused by sloppy sectioning or taking a too small of section. When the hair is thin, it's tempting to use too small of sections to give the client the fullness that they want, but in the long run it will just cause more hair loss.
If you hair is truely not strong enough to support extensions, then I'd recommend making yourself some nice clip in wefts, out of a quality hair like Bohyme.
I think you and MSHONEY are both right, my hair is too fragile and it is a sloppy job. I sat down last night and fingered through my extensions, the keratin differs in length anywhere from a quarter of an inch to over an inch. The only time I've seen that much variance is with mega hair. And the hair was not sectioned off evenly, you could tell by the different lengths of my hair on the extension that came out by the roots.
And you would think after seeing the condtion my hair was in she should have known I was unable to wear fusion, or at least had the descency to warn me.
I tried clip ons in 1995, they are hard for me to put in and take out because of my degenerative disk disease. I know I'm a mess, but I am ALIVE!
I have worn dome hair successfully and mega hair too, but that was before the medications and the surgeries. I have worn a weave on and off (mainly on) for the last 4 years. It's just after I moved I couldn't find anyone that does the same exact type of weave my hairdresser in Washington did. But I have found someone who comes kinda close and she is a truly honest and good human being, not too mention she does great color.
I just think it is horrible when someone puts the almighty buck over the well fair of their client, but then again maybe she didn't want me as a regular client?!

I have used Bohyme wefted hair before, in fact that is what she took out of my head before she put in the fusion. LOVE IT.
Wonder if you have had any experience with Jetset hair? Is it as good as they try and say it is? And do you think Dome hair would be too heavy for my hair? I like to switch around, but maybe with my hair being so fragile I can't anymore.
Sorry to hear about your hair experiences! I have MS and I too have some 'bad hands days', but I still do manage to get my clip in hair in and somehow even manage to do extensions on others! I've worked with numb finger tips, a paralyzed thumb, and rigid spastic hands, and it is challenging, so my heart goes out to you! My meds also make my hair weak and thinner...
Anyway, back to the hair... I think Jet Set is decent, but not as good as Bohyme. It's cheaper than Bohyme by a little bit, but I'd rather spend the extra $40 or so and get the Bohyme.
Dome, the monofibre, that maybe too heavy for your hair. It's hard to say, it seems like with such fragile hair, maybe any tension is too much.
I know with my hair extension wearing, if I get some damage I'm ok with that, since I'm getting the look I want. You ask yourself, is a little damage ok with you?
You may want to try the silicone lined microrings. That's my first choice for people with ultra fragile hair. I have several people with very fragile hair wearing those rings, and after several wearing, they aren't any worse for the wear. Just don't use a strand that is thicker than your hair can support.
have you lost more bonds? you may be able to work with this install. is the itching/irritation resulting in the bumps you had with the other bond? what kind of symptoms are they producing?

If the root bulb that is still attatched to the extension is white, it was pulled out, if it is black, it was a naturally shed hair
They were white, that's how I knew it was not due to shedding. Unless I use extreme caution and very very gentle strokes it hurts to brush my hair. I am looking into getting this out as soon as I take pictures of it. I will try to post some pics to my gallery by next weekend.

I don't know how to upload pics directly to this forum, but I did post them to my gallery, plus pictures of me with other extension methods. Could someone please help me with doing pics? Guess I'm not real computer literate.LOL
as you can see I figured it out, don't know why I couldn't see that button last night! I put a pic in my first Post at the top of the page.
