Hi, I'm glad I found this site!  I need some advice.  I have medium brown hair with blonde highlights.  I pay 200 bucks for them...i love them, but i can no longer afford to get my hair done at a salon.  I'd like to be able to do an allover color at home.  I'm only 28 but i already have a lot of gray hair...enough that people point it out to me when my roots grow out.  I'd like to be an overall light neutral brown.  I'm fair complected and have light blue/green/gray eyes.  Can someone recommend the best way to do this?  My natural color is too dark for me.  I dn't know what will happen if i just put a permanent light brown on my already processed hair.  will it turn my highlights weird colors?  THANK YOU for any help you can give me!!!!!

On thing you might do is just color your roots and let the hightlights just grow out.  The other possibility is to do a strand test on a strand of your highlighted hair, then you will know what to expect.

strand test & make sure you don't try to go lighter than 1-2 shades without bleach, it will turn orange!  color can't lift color.

your blonde highlights should be fine, it's your natural color that i"d be worried about

thanks so much for the input!  can anyone recommend a brand of hair color?  my friend does her own hair.  she goes to sally's and mixes the color and bleach by herself.  OR, i was thinking maybe i'll just go to the salon one more time, get them to do the overall color, and then do the roots myself later on??

i'd consider doing it yourself if you plan on doing it afterwards so you know which color to use to match your roots
