Hi everyone!  I just joined this forum because I need some serious hair help and heard you girls are good for that!  Anyways, heres how my hair is naturally- probably about 4 or 5 inches past my shoulders, frizzy, damaged, wavy (not in a pretty way).  I can get it to look somewhat good when I spend 2 hours with a blow dryer and large round brush.  It looks straight but with some volume to it.  I want my hair to look super good all the time though and not take two hours to style.  would hair extensions work on my type of hair?  i dont get it...would i have to style the part thats my natural hair and the extensions will already look thick and pretty?  or do i have to style the extensions too?  i dont even know if im making sense, but basically i want to know if they will work for me and what i will have to do on a daily basis to make my hair gorgeous.  im desperate for pretty hair i think it makes all the difference.  thank you so much!!

Well, I can tell you what I do, and it works for most people with curly/wavy hair. First try not to wash it very often, and when you do try only using conditioner instead of shampoo, which dries it out even more. I know what you thinkin, "My hair gets really greasy and I cant do that", A very common misconception. Conditioner has some of the same cleaning agent as shampoo. When you put it in you scrub you head like you would with shampoo, then you condition it for what ever the time you usually. Try not to  condition it for.  This is because a lot of the hair that has any texture to it is dry. (mostly curly and wavy hair) Then try not to use a lot of hair gel and spray because that breaks your hair off also. When ever you do decide to use heat to do your hair then you should always put some kind of heat serum on it to protect it form heat damage. If you do use something on your hair, hair mouse is the best for it.  I've been doin this for about 10 months and it works great for my hair and I have very curly hair and it was very frizzy before this. Now I wont tell you that it's gonna take all of the "poof" out, LOL, but it definatly helps out. I hope I helped.
<*>I'm so glad it's back!<*>

Yes, but IMO you have to start with hair that blends with your hair texture.. If you are expecting to install extensions and not having to do any work to your hair, then IMO you are starting out with the wrong set of expectations..

Unless you are wearing a full sew in with little to none of your hair left out for blending, your hair will be out and need to blend in with the extensions hair.. If you are wearing your hair straight most of the time, and you install straight hair, you will have to blow dry your hair to blend.

If your hair is in a bad condition, make sure that it can hold the weight of the extentions. So you will not have breakage.

The hair near your scalp schould be healty befor an install.
I not, I would recomande to waith for a couple of weeks and condition it well

I agree with Diva. Find the absolute closest match you possibly can to your natural hair texture. This is easier said than done because very often we see beautiful hair being sold online from vendors but not all of it will be a match to your own. So try to determine your hair type and color match first off. It sounds like your hair is damaged to some degree so it’s probably best if you don’t do any coloring to it unless it’s a gentler, semi permanent type product. There are several good ones on the market. If you can get away with not coloring, I recommend going that route.

I am a BIG fan of sew in weaves but you will need to decide what kind of extension method you want to do. There are MANY ways to wear and apply extensions so you better start your homework! hehe. Sew ins are inexpensive compared with strand by strand methods so if you get it and don’t like it, you can easily have it removed and go onto something else. I am wearing what is referred to as a "partial weave" meaning my natural hair all up on top is covering my three sewn in tracks which lie flush with my scalp so you can’t see them at all. You can feel them but its nothing major and you need to really dig.

So if you decide on a partial weave, your real hair will be draped over the extension hair so you will need to so some minimal styling to blend them in with the extension hair but its not too major. I would need to see your natural hair to get a better idea but as long as you get a good, close match on your extensions, you should be able to style your natural hair easily to blend. You might need a little bit of a cut once the weave is sewn in. All my stylist did was slightly razor me on the sides and that just kind of made my natural hair flow into the extensions. It’s easy enough to do.
