hi!
would just like some advise on something and help with something that i am struggling to understand.
i really wanted to be blonde so went to the hairdressers the other day and she dyed my hair blonde.
but not really to sure on the colour. its not what i expected anyway. it looks like gingery blonde and i don't like it.
the reason why they did it this color is they said that i have a pale face so it suits me better.
but looking on the internet it says on alot of sites that pale faced people suit blonde. so i don't understand why 2 people have said i wouldn't suit blonde as my face is too pale?
i mean number 1- i was born blonde, it just changed over the years
num 2- mentioned above internet says pale faced suit blonde
num 3 - have seen models on the packets of these blonde dyes and they have the same skin color as i do and they suit blonde!
yet hairdresser said i am too pale?
i mean even dyes that i wouldn't suit like ash blonde (as your supposed to have pinkish skin) surley i could just wear blusher and then i would suit it?
you may think i am obssesed with being blonde or something as it sounds like it! but not its just that it is driving me crazy not understanding what these 2 people mean exactly, i just want to know wether i should not listen to these people and try another blonde or go back to brown hair i don't like not knowing! especially when it comes to hair.
any ideas what colour blondes suit pale skin?
my natural hair colour is mousy brown and i have blue eyes.
thanks

People said I was too PALE TOO. But either I should be light brown to blonde cause I am so pale. Naturally I have really dark hair. Go with WHAT YOU THINK looks good. Not what others. If you don't like the color, ask to try and lighten it, or put in some light highlights, maybe to give it a little pop?
I think pale skin any color hair works. If you are too white then too blonde might not work, but I think lighter would work. Personally. I'm fair skin and it works for me better than anything darker.... it's been golden, ash, platinum (which is where it stands kinda.) And I look good I think.
Hairdressers try to tell you things they are taught in school. But they should do what you want.

Maybe your hair dresser only told you that because he/she couldnt get you blonder and didnt want to seem incompetent.
Gingery sounds too reddish which means they didnt leave it on long enough or couldnt tone it properly. (most likely didnt leave it on long enough because they were afraid of damage or something to your hair)
I think pale can be pretty with blonde.Although it is not the "style" which is to be tanned and blonde. But who gives a crap about what the style is??? If that is what you want to be,then go for it!
Either go back and say you want it lighter or find someone different who is willing to listen to you and do it right. They are getting paid to do what you ask,not what they think suits you.
Dont go back to brown if that is not what you want. Then it will have all been for nothing.

thanks for all the help. my hair is alot better now that i have washed it a few times but still not happy with the colour, so will go to a different hairdresser and ask for a colour i will like.
i love the idea of being tanned and blonde, but far too expensive for me at the minute. you know having to pay to get your roots done and then having to pay for either fake tan or sunbeds. think i will just stick to the cost of getting roots done once in a while. maybe tan after i have finished collage and get a well paid job!

Kristy Swanson,a great exmaple of blonde looking lovely on pale skin.
JenJ26,if you want some color they sell self tanning products that work pretty good and are cheap.Neutragena especially is good if you apply it the right way (exfoliate skin good first with a loofah and apply a thin amount)
Please update us on how it turns out for you!

My favourite thing- bronzer! Don't go overboard just a light dusting on the places that the sun naturally hit the most such as the forehead, nose and of course the cheeks.
Whoever said that it's not up to the hairdressers to decide is right, you get whatever colour you please.
I would probably suggest a light honey blonde as opposed to platinum blonde, similar to Kristy Swanson up there^.
I'm fairly pale, but bronzer and tanning creams have saved me when i've had black hair as well as now with dark blonde, and hopefully they will when i go lighter again in a few weeks!
Anyway, best of luck, i'm sure you will look beautiful with your pale skin, blonde hair and blue eyes. :)

well i am going to take some pictures of woman out of magazines with blonde hair that i like and tell them that this is the blonde i want so they know.
Alot of people i know have told me that hairdressers won't color your hair the blonde you want it, if they think it won't suit you! but i agree hairdressers should do it the color you want.
ordered the fake tan so just waiting for it to come. then will probably go to different hairdressers and have it dyed a different blonde. i thought that maybe if i tan my face first before going then they won't be so reluctant to dye my hair a blonde that i want! they can't say i am too pale if i use a bit of fake tan!

just as any hair color change, some makeup changes are required too. make sure to re-examine that, because the lighter your hair and skin, the more emphasis you're going to be putting on your facial features. get a rosey pink blush and some mascara to brighten up if you haven't already. also, look into an eyebrow pencil -- i can't even begin to say how much better it made my dyed hair look!
aside from that, if it came out too strawberry blonde, you probably need to get it slightly darkened to a honey color, but add some true blonde highlights. it will keep the shade warm but not red; it takes a lot of chutzpah to wear dyed strawberry blonde.

There's heaps of sites out there with makeup tips. From one forum (for blonde hair, pale skin, blue eyes):
"Have you tried peachy tones? Also try some browny tones, perhaps a gold and metallic bronze as these are in fashion at the moment. Plumy shades make a nice alternative darker shade and have a softer tone. I use plums in my socket line with peach on lower lid. I have green eyes and use a light lime colour on lower lid, draws light to eye and really opens it up, as you have blue eyes cold try a light blue? Boots No7 have some lovely colours. I recently bought yellowy gold and its fab. They also have plums and metallic bronze. Dark sage green works well also. Perhaps even ask at counter for makeover? usually free in department stores. Have fun experimenting."
