My hair is similar in length and style, (maybe a bit longer) to this:

But i can't seem to get it to look layered and spiky like in the pic, is there a trick to get those nice layered spikes?, i've had my hair thinin but stil can't get it to look as good, did he use some kind of perm? :s
Your hair needs to be very thin, especially at the top. A trick that a lot of people use to make it look layered is once after wax is applied, then twist the ends of your hair to give it a more defined spikey shape.
