I have a feeling that some of my favorite Emmy hair choices will be panned by many of you. But here goes:

THUMBS UP

Jayma Mays - Her hair was way longer than she usually wears it on "Glee." But to be honest, her hairstyle on "Glee" tends to be pretty matronly. Prediction: You guys will say it's too much hair for her tiny face. I don't care. I love it.

Kyra Sedgwick - Her hair looked wild and thick and wonderous. I'm sure she had extensions making her hair thicker than usualy. My prediction: Someone will say she should have used a hair brush. I agree, but I love Kyra and this night was no exception.

Julie Bowen - I couldn't get enough of her tonight. I would have voted for "Modern Family" just so Julie could get on stage and look beautiful. My prediction: Someone will say her hair doesn't look special here. But believe me, she looked way better in the theater than she looked on the red carpet.

Tina Fey - I love that she had a long ponytail. I wish she'd like it, too, and make it permanent. My prediction: You will point out the obvious, that it's fake. No argument, but my point is made.

Nancy O'Dell - If I was a photographer at the Emmys and could only take photos of one celeb, I would be perfectly happy if that celeb was Nancy O'Dell. This look never gets old. And we're Facebook friends and she seems really sweet and friendly besides easy on the eyes. My prediction: Someone will think she should cut her hair. Go away.

THUMBS DOWN

I have the show taped and will watch it (if for nothing else the Ricky Jervais comedy act), but the biggest disappointment so far:

Mariska Hargitay - She could have done a lot better. I was really looking for a great night for Mariska, who has great, great hair. Not so much.

More disappointment: Why were reality stars allowed in the building?

Yet more disappointment: Claire Danes' hair was OK, and it had to be since she had so much TV time, but my buddy says Claire had plastic surgery. True or false?

More disappointment: Did Eva Larue have to hog all the hair grease?

Biggest disappointment: Kristen Wiig. Her hair looked so nice at the start of the just-past Saturday Night Live season. Tonight it was too short, cut into a goofy style with dark roots showing on one side. Bombs away.

Claire Danes does look different. Why oh why would she have plastic surgery when she looked so good anyway?
