Well it was a fun gathering just a few of us. We swaped products and we talked about any and everything while at the restaraunt. I got some free samples I got some Physique hydrating shampoo and conditioner which I really liked and I have already used up. I got some affirm stuff and Kera Care samples. These Samples are just too small...when I wore my hair out yesterday I was looking at each sample pack like my hair will just laugh at this. A Dime size amount is worth 1/4 of an area of my hair. But anywho I really enjoyed it...pm for the link to the gathering pics cause it's not in my album and i'm not sure they want it on a public site.

Honeydoo,

Sorry girly, I have been busy the last few days. When I straighten my hair I use the maxiglide with steamburst.  I just let my hair air dry almost all the way through.  I put a little Dudley Inner Brilliance Essential Oil on each section before I straighten. It stays straight till I wash it again.  You can see the before and after pics on my link below. Hope this helps!

Maybeline,

I've been busy too! My computer is on the fritz too so don't worry about it. I've been thinking about which flat iron to invest in because I'm not sure. And also, I need a really fantastic heat protectant.

When you let your hair airdry, what type of moisturizer do you use??

I put a leave in conditioner on it (infusium) and I might put some Dudley's Inner Growth Creme on it. I don't like to put alot of product on before I use the maxiglide because it causes build up on the iron.  The Essential Oil doesn't do that though.

Thanks! I usually put carrot creme and WGHO in my hair while it dries because it feels like hay if I don't.

Hello everyone. Count me in on the challenge.  I often read everyones Q&A and I would like to encourage everyone to keep up the great work. I recently got a hair cut (which I only went in for a trim) and ended up going from a few inches past my shoulders to a chin length even Bob (so I feel Like I'm starting over). I really don't have a specific hair care routine. I'm just experimenting to find what works best. I have relaxed hair and right now I'm trying

Aphogee Intensive Keratin Reconstrucor, Surge +14 ( not as often anymore) and Surge Power Wash Shampoo, ORS Carrot oil and Olive oil cream, Mizani Thermastrength cream and Moisturefuse cond. Big tooth comb, a satin scarf and a curling iron that I'm trying to eliminate.

I seem to like everything I use for the moment with the exception of the +14, it does strange things to my hair.  I don't know what type hair I have. How do you find that out? Someone please let me know.

I have started my journal and I'm going to start taking some  pic's soon. My ideal length is to my bra strap. I have about 7in to grow to acheive that.

Good luck everyone!

Welcome shell and good luck....well its hard to determine your hair type if you are still relaxed because the relax hair can weight your newgrowth down... unless u have seen your natural texture and remember it then you can explain it and we can try to help you.

Welcome Shell!!!

I originally started fresh two years from a bob cut above my ears. I've had some wear and tear over the first year, but got back on track and joined this site. Now I'm about 3 inches past shoulder length. I'm sure you'll do fine and everyone here has great advice!!

Thanks for the encouragement Honeydoo. I know that with some new hair care habits along with the advice of fellow participants that I can acheive the length that I want.

To all the sweet girls on this board,

I would like to give an award.

They are pretty and strong,

And it won't take them long

Till their hair is as thick as a cord.

I guess i will go ahead and update. I had a half inch trim off the ends at mastercuts last saturday to get rid of my split ends. I also purchased a Jilbere de Paris shower comb and i am using this daily to detangle when i do my co wash. It is helping a great deal. My growth is going pretty good and i believe that i am retaining my length much better than in the past. that's about it. Catch you guys in August for the update but i will be around.

I bought a shower comb from K-Mart but I haven't used it yet. I have been using olive oil before I wash my hair. I am 10 weeks post relaxer and I need to order it. I mostly just wear my hair in a ponytail every day. So I haven't been using any heat. I plan to use Sebastian Colourshines after I relax my hair.

Hello Everyone!!

As you can tell I'm new to the board but I would love to join the challenge. Hope its not too late. My hair type is a 3a/b and its relaxed. I don't have a set routine for my hair but I'm trying to work on it. I have stopped using grease so thats one step in the right direction, I want to get to a set routine but I'm afraid of becoming a product junkie.

I use Pantene ProV anti dandruff shampoo and Pantene ProV Condtioner(specific for women of color.) As a deep conitioner I use Motions CPR.  I then either blow dry or sit under my dryer and then flat iron using Kemi Oil. I would like to wash more than once or twice a week but I'm afraid of over drying my hair. I get relaxers every 8-10 weeks and i get my ends trimmed at this time also.

I have had some major breaking at the crown of my head due to my hair dresser coloring my hair and taking it to high( it was very very blonde, bright yellow). So since all that has taken place I have been very careful and cautious with it. When it broke off it was about a half inch long, but now it has since grown and is about 4 inches. It is growing back very fast I might add. (YEAH!!) The rest of my hair has been rinsed back to my natural color, or as close as possible so you can't even tell where the breaking has occured. So other then at the very top of my hair the rest of it it about 3 inches from my bra strap which is my short term goal. My long term goal is to maintain that length while allowing my crown to catch up. ANY and ALL suggestions welcome.

I got about a half inch cut off my ends on Monday, I washed and air dried last night and will be updating my album sometime soon. If I can get around to flat ironing my hair. Other then that nothing much new. Same routine, been kinda sick lately so I haven't been washing as much as i should. Hopefully when I adjust to my meds I will start co/washing atleast 3 times a week, b/c I hope to start swiming alot for exercise.
