hey everyone....i havent been here in a while but am back now

I just wanna update that after 4 months of patience and learning from this board and others I have reached healthy (splitends free) waistelength hair in the back. Reaching waistelength was never the problem. but reaching strong-thinck without splitends hair up to my waste was challenging. Now I am working on the front area reaching my waste, this area of my hair grows the slowest so it needs more tlc. The front is about two inches shorter than the back...about a little longer than brastrap length. So I guess it will be another 4months for the front to reach up to the back. My true goal is for my whole hair to be even waiste length. So I still have more to go.

n e ways i just wanted to thank  everyone for advice and support.

Hey HairDiva!  What site did you go to find out how to measure your hair?  Also, LADIES, is there a website you ladies used to find your hair type/length, etc.?

Hey JC#1!  I just read some of the other ladies' messages about their satin pillowcases & I was wondering if the set you bought has a zipper or some easy contraption to keep it on the pillow!?!?!?!?  The pillowcase I bought from BB&B has a zipper on it! Thanks - you ladies are great to talk to!!

Hi cmesweet,

Thanks for accepting me, i was quite worried. Yes, you guessed right. Iam using the crown and glory method. I feel it makes a lot of sense as i noticed my hair actually grows longer if i braid it.

Like you said, i plan to keep them moisturised so my hair does not eend up breaking since i'll be keeping the braids for a while.

Qwick study, you can get info on the crown and glory method from

http://www.growafrohairlong.com.

Enjoy!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Carameldiva for that information about the aloe vera...when I get the money I will check that out.

Qwickstudy- Reading the site would be better than for me to try to explain it. Plus there is alot of information, alot of people on forums has had great success with the crown and glory method.

Hey Hairdiva, welcome to the site and the challenge!!!

I'd like to add that I went to Walmart a while back and they had satin fabric on sale for 2.99 a yard (Or something like that). It took less than 10.00 to make a set of pillowcases.

And also, How moisturizing is the 100% pure aloe vera and how does it feel on the hair??

Hey Cmesweet,

Forgive my ignorance, but what is the crown and glory method?

(if it is too long to explain here....just tell me where I can find information about it )

I am thinking about alternating between the 'sistaslick bun' and braids from time to time.

Thanks,

~Qwick

Hairdiva- Sure you can join! welcome to the site. The braids may work...are u using the crown and glory method? Just make sure they aren't too tight and make sure to moisturize them regularly.

Princess,

Very clever way of keeping the satin pillowcases on.  I opten for another way (not as clever) to keep them on.  I purchased some really expensive, kinda boxy, square shaped, goose down pillows.....the satin pillowcases stay on and the pillows are extremely comfortable!

Hey KBaby, Quick, and anyone else who's interested. I found the magazine, and it's actually called "CarolWright Gifts." Here's some info where u can call, fax, or write to them about obtaining a catalog:

Ordering number and/or info: 1-402-464-6116 (Weekdays 8 AM - 10 PM, EST, Saturdays 9 AM - 5 PM, EST)

Fax: 1-732-572-2118

Address:
CarolWright Gifts
100 Nixon Lane
P.O. Box 7823
Edison, NJ 08818-7823

Here's the website as well: www.carolwrightgifts.com

These pillowcases r great. U can order the sheets w/ it, which costs $20 alone, or just the standard/king sized pillowcases which costs only $4.99. These are what I have, just one set for $4.99. They come in various colors, including Gold, Ivory, Pink, Emerald, Burgundy, and Blue. I've washed my pillowcases many times, and they strong enough 2 survive through wear and tear, yet they remain as soft and silky as the day u first used them. It's a great buy! Hope this helps and God bless

I am pretty sure that any of the following stores would carry satin pillowcases:  Strouds; Bed Bath & Beyond; Anna's Linens; Linens 'N Things...........basically any fine linens store or stores where bedding/household goods, etc.

Also department stores (linen section) such as:  Sears, Target, JCPenney, Dillards, Macy's, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Saks Fifth Avenue, etc.

Heck, you can even purchase them online.  Go onto www.google.com and type in "satin pillowcases" and click search.  Many sites will pop-up.

Happy Shopping!!   Let me know how you like them after you try them.

Peace,

I've used Phytorelaxer. I really liked the results but I'm thinking about transitioning. The last couple of times I used it it didn't come out as straight but that might've been because my mom didn't smooth it good. But I don't mind since I might transition anyway. I liked using Phytorelaxer a lot better than going to the hairdresser.

KBaby,

I paid $9.99 a piece for my satin pillowcases at Anna's Linens.  Like you, I am also interested in this "Cartwright Gifts" magazine.  $4.00 for a set is really a steal!

I wonder if they have an 800# or an address in the magazine where they can be called or written?

Hello Ladies - I'm really curious about this relaxer I've some of you speak of (maybe in another thread).  It's called Phytolaxer or Phytorelaxer.  I saw it online - costs about $60.  If anyone has used it, please let me know about your results.

Another thing is, I go to church with this girl whose hair has grown tremendously in the past year.  She always wears is up in a "ghetto" up-do, but she had it down today & it is past bra length (it was shoulder length last summer)!  It seems kinda coarse, so I'm not sure if she relaxes it - she left before I could ask her.  I have decided to not relax my hair for as long as I can!  I'm sticking with using the Nioxin line of products.  I plan to wash & set with big rollers, sit under the dryer, then flat iron the roots (or use the hot comb - electric kind).  I really need some encouragement because I have been getting relaxers for as long as I can remember.  Do you ladies suggest anything other than what I plan to try?  Any and all suggestions are welcomed!  THANKS - I AM SO HAPPY I FOUND THIS WEBSITE  !!!!!

Have fun and keep us updated on the progress!

WOW - did you really pay only $4 for a set?!?!?!  I paid about $12 for one at Bed, Bath and Beyond!  Does this magazine have a website?  I have a satin pillowcase but mine is old - I'd like to get a new one.
