Hey Princess!  Anytime I can help I will - God knows I need lots of help myself!  Hope you find the products work for you; they did for me!  Try the vitamins, too, if you can - I'm taking those now!

update- I was cleaning up the house and I found an old fashion pressing comb (the kind u heat on the stove) that my mom use to use on me.  This is not something I had planed to do but I took down small section of hair in the back, put some garner fructis protection on it and heated up the comb.  It wasn't that hot, it was tested on a paper towel to see if it was. Anyways, it took a while for me to get the result I was looking because the comb wasn't that hot.  Anyways, I pressed that section of hair. In the back that section of hair reached the top of my armpit, when I put it in the front it reached a little past  the top of the armpit.

This is the first time I used direct heat on my hair in more than a year unless u consider a blow drier on low which I used about 3 or 4times, but not on the regular. This challenge is really working, I have seen great progress, my ends are looking great and my hair is growing. I'm loving this site!  Yayyy me... I got to keep this up

No more heat for me. But I have been wearing wash and go puffs all week and it kinda causes more tangles than I want. I'm thinking of doing a sew in for a few weeks.

Yaaa for you Cmesweet!!!  I'm happy to hear that. I too have been staying away from heat and I feel alot better about it. I start classes again next week so I will be trying to find a style that is heat free, keeps my ends from getting damaged, and easy to get up and go. You've got me really wanting to transition though! Keep up the great work!

By the way, do you know where your hair was when you first started the challenge as far as length is concerned? And how do you wear your hair regularly??

When the challenge first began  my hair  near the top of my ear hardly reached my chin. I know this by looking at my album (the March pics...I don't have February pics) Well in the summer I have been wearing alot of "rinse and go" puffs... I rinse it then wrap a towel until the drips stop and then put on a head band to push it back. Sometimes I a ringle on the side, just wrap the hair around your finger until it makes a coil.  In the fall and winter, I wear alot of twists or since I can't french braid, I put a part down the middle, make  a couple of big braids on each side and then pin them up, also I sometimes airdry with the pin- up- braids. It'sreally cute with a flower/butterfly added too.

Hey KBaby, I just purchased the Nixion products.  You are right, it is expensive if you buy them individually.  I purchased the trio set for $34.95 so that wasn't too bad.  I didn't see the hair vitamins, but the follical booster was $54.  Way out of my price range for now.  Any, I will keep you posted on my progress.

Princess, doesn't the trio come with the shampoo, leave-in treatment & conditioner (I think that's what I got)?  I got it for $34.95 w/the vitamins on eBay!  The follicle booster only was $12.95; If you can, try eBay next time!  If you do decide to, let me know & I'll give you the user IDs of the people that I buy from.  Even with the shipping included, it's less expensive than retail!

Hey Cmesweet!  You are doing such a good job, girl.  I wish I could say that I will never use heat!  I don't very often.  I usually let my hair airdry, but I will use a flat iron to straighten it out - but just that once after I wash & then not again until the next wash.  I try not to use the curling iron all, so I bought hot rollers that are lined with velvet - don't know if that makes a difference or not!  I have noticed in just this one week since I've been using Nioxin again, I have less hair loss!  I think I may have mentioned to you ladies that my hair wasn't just breaking on the ends; I was losing long strands - so I have seen much less of that & I'm excited.  I can't wait until I get to armpit length.  I have about 4-6 inches to go for that, so maybe by next summer I'll be there!

UPDATE: Today I tried a Apple Cider Vinegar rinse, and it works like a charm. At first my hair was shedding and breaking. My ends were healthy, but I seemed to have a lot of breakage towards the scalp. My scalp was also itchy. So I tried ACV by putting a few tablespoons in a bowl diluted w/ water. I soaked my hair in it and instantly my hair felt softer and it wasn't tangled. I left it on w/ a shower cap for 30 minutes and rinsed it out w/ regular water. I plan 2 do this once a week or maybe once every two weeks. I actually like the smell, and it doesn't stay on too long anyway. I didn't use heat afterwards, just air dried down. Then I wore it in a bun. No more itching, and healthier, shinier hair! Plus I use ACV for my acne and I've noticed clearer skin as well

How do you wear your hair to sleep? I usually tie my hair up in a doo rag (sp?) but it's getting too long for that and the ends are starting to stick out.

Hi Everybody....

I have a question for Princess07 and KBaby:

Are the Nioxin Hair Products (shampoo, leave-in conditioner, follicle booster) for relaxed hair only?  I am not relaxed and I'm wondering if I may benefit from using these products?

Thanks for your help,

~Qwick

No, Qwick it's not just for relaxed or chemically treated like they call it. They have both for none chemically treated and chemically treated hair.  They have it for various types of hair, very fine, medium to course or course.  Non chemical and chemically treated hair.  Just look at the box.  I bought the #4 for fine chemically treated hair, because thats my type of hair and like you, I get it relaxed every 10 to 12 weeks (only need it for the ends of my hair).  Good luck.

Hey Princess....

Thanks for the info

I went to www.nioxin.com and looked at their products.  I also called and talked with their customer service peeps.  I think I may try the Bionutrient Actives.....which are for non-relaxed hair.  I have never had a permanent on my hair and I am hesitant to try products that are not designed for natural hair.

They also told me that the Bionutrient Protectives Products are designed for "chemically enhanced" or relaxed hair.

I'll let you know how I like the products after I try them for a while.

Talk to ya later,

~Qwick

Hey Qwick!  Princess is right; they have a whole line of products for both chemically treated and natural hair, for both men and women.  Check out their website www.nioxin.com; you can complete a survey and they will email you back or you can do like Princess did and call Customer Service at 800-628-9890 and they will help!

RU asking me Layla? Well if u are, I sometimes use only 3 rollers (this really helped after I first got my touch-up), but now since the new growth is kicking in, I just braid it in two braids (one on each side) and lay down. I don't use scarves or caps anymore cuz they slip off of my big head , and the satin pillowcases I use work like a charm!

KBaby-- Even though you do use heat, it seems like you limit the amount you use. That is a start to progress and it sounds like you made some changes for the good to get to where you want too. You will get there in no time.

Also, thanks Carameldiva...it paid off well and I know everyone in here is doing well with the support from all of us.
