Hi amm,

I have a FHI ceramic 1" flat iron that heats up to 480 degrees. Do you thinks that's sufficent to melt the shrinkie or do I need the wand?

Did you buy the heat clamp tool Dr Locks carries, or are you using something else to heat shrink them with?

That's so great. I'm so happy to hear the Shrinkies are working out. And thanks for the info, amm--your posts are always so helpful!

Visibility - I find them to be much less detectable that microrings. I feel less self-conscious when I'm somewhere and I have people very close behind me.
The shrinkies are completely clear and match whatever your hair color is. They shrink down to fit whatever the size of your pre-tipped strand is. The smaller the strand, the smaller the shrinkie is. I, however, wear my strands thicker so I can get a lot more volume with less strands in. I probably have 100-125 thick strands which would be about 200-225 normal size. I never use bulk hair. I tried it once and had a mess. Whenever I pulled the hair off the stack, some strays would always manage to come with and I ended up with hair on the floor and uneven tips that I would have to trim up. I always use weft hair.

hairextender - No, I will not call you. My bad Hairlocs experience is nothing you can rectify. Unless you want to refund me over $2,000 and miraculously put the hair back on my head that was lost? And let me specify something -- I didn't actually lose it from my head. Yes, some were pulled out because of the weight but the majority of it is broken right where the shell was clamped shut. When I pull my hair back, you can see all the little broken hairs sticking straight out. I feel sorry for anyone who is pulled in by the promise of healthier hair and winds up with less than half of what they started with.

the dr locks site says to remove the shrinkies you should heat and crack and use acetone. using the oil is that all you had to do? just curious. its always good to know what is what out there....thanks

That's so cool! I'll buy them instead of microrings, then.

That's great!

Now I want to try them.
How many did you put in total? How many did you lose in the 4 weeks? Did you do them with pre-tipped hair or bulk hair?

that's great, amm. i'm glad its working out--how does it compare to the links in terms of visibility? they look so small and undetectable--more than any other method i've seen.

I have an entire head of extensions in with shrinkies. I am now going on 4 weeks with NO DAMAGE! Unlike Hairlocs which broke my hair off, there is no breakage with these after one month.

You can buy shrinkies through Dr Locks.

http://drlocks.net/shrinkies.htm

The light glue inside the shrinkie comes off with vegetable oil! I read somewhere that someone removed it with the oil and I thought, "no way!" I had been using acetone.

Guess what? I tried it tonight and the residue comes off with oil. One pass and whooooooooooop it was gone!

Rejoice! Rejoice!
