I have just tipped two strands of hair with multi-purpose household glue. It is not toxic, not flammable, has no health warnings and doesn't give off any fumes. It comes out a little bit runnier than latex and dries clear. I fanned the hair as with latex and then smoothed out of the tip the excess hair so there was just enough to saturate the hair and then let it dry for 1 hour. I rolled it after 20 minutes. It says 30 minutes to dry but I thought I would give it a little longer. I held the doc's heat clamp over one of the tips for 20 seconds. It just melted the tip slightly and spread it out. I tested it with a shrinkie. The shrinkie went hard around it as normal. I also put a shrinkie on the hair by itself. I then left both for 10 minutes, then removed the shrinkie and the shrinkie and glue tip, then I soaked both residues for 5 minutes in vegy oil. They both combed out, hey presto. Any comments or warnings would be suggested guys xxx
I don't know what Elmer's Glue is. Its from my local B & Q Warehouse. I was using latex and nail glue before. How it compares is that I don't have to tip with both now just one so it cuts the time down by half x
The shrinkie seems to really adhere to the tip as well now so I think it will get rid of the problem where the tip comes out and the shrinkie is left in your hair. I'm going to test it out on a guinea pig so I'll let you know x

Amanda, that seems great as long as it won't stick to your real
hair. I also have the problem where the extension always comes
out, leaving the shrinkie still in my hair.
For reference, Elmer's is the most common brand of regular glue in
America. Hopefully, we're talking about the same kind of
glue. What I think of as regular household glue is a white, thick
liquid that comes in a squeeze bottle. It says safe and
non-toxic; for use on most porous or semi-porous surfaces. Not
for photos and bare metal. Let dry 30-45 minutes (overnight for
full strength). If your bottle of glue says basically the same
stuff, then we should be looking at a similar product.
Well my big concern was it sticking to the hair when I heated the shrinkie but when the shrinkie came out, it only took the same amount of veggy oil to get it out and it combed out exactly the same. That sounds exactly like what I used. xxx

I had thought about using Elmer's Glue before but didn't know the effect it would have on my hair and never bothered experiementing. I would think it would be okay though, that is if it worked. I remember being in grade school and we used to spread Elmer's on our hands let it dry and peel if off...LOL(I know I'm not the only one) But it came off pretty easily when dry.
I actually don't mind using the fusion glue to pretip though.. it works well.
It works out expensive through tipping with fusion glue and then using shrinkies or extentubes as well, I'd have to put the price up for extensions. There is the issue of it getting in the client's hair as well xxx
Well I've just tipped my first full weft with the household glue and I couldn't believe how easy it was, next is the guinea pig. I'm going to see if she has any come out in the 8 weeks first of all and then I'm obviously going to do the take out so I'll keep you guys posted.xx
