Cmesweet, do you live in Chicago??!! I use to live in the suburbs (Flossmoor) but I live near the beach in the Indiana Dunes now.
Pocahontas1: Welcome!!! I hope you enjoy the challenge. You sound alot like me though. My heritage is Black, Cherokee, Sioux, Creole, and Chinese. I have coarse 4a hair though thats about an inch past the top of my shoulders. What brand of biotin do you use? I'm just taking 2,500mg MSM and a women's multivitamin. Happy Growing!!
p.s. (I love the dolphins!)

the black womens expo was going on. I heard about it thru
another hair site and said, well since im there i would see what
its about. I saw Vivica Fox while I was there, she had in braids (
the style that she been wearing lately) really curly, very nice.

dang Honeydoo...small world...I grew up in Flossmoor too (H-F, c/o '98)...i'm living in Olympia Fields now....
and cmesweet, what did you think of the expo? i've been going for the past three years and i was a bit disappointed with the choice of vendors...i went with the intention of getting oils for my hair (jojoba, in particular) and couldnt find one person that had it!
i almost wish i had gone to GCI's event the week before (the pantene pro-v tour)...but i wasnt sure if it was gonna be more of the same, so i stuck with what i knew...
back to the Challenge: outside of multivites...what other dietary supplements do you all take? i've heard of biotin (though i'm not sure what it does), and i've read about essential fatty acids as well, but i'm not really sure what they are...anybody have any info?

Well, I liked it, it was my first time going to it so I really don't have anything to compare it to. I did ask around for oils, such as the ones u mentioned and they didn't have them. They only had massaging oils and lotions. I left mad, this lady who shaped my brows cut me and then claimed i was sensitive

Thanks for the link carameldiva.... is it on the recipe board? If so, I can't get to that board, since im not a member right now. Is there a way u can copy and paste it?
I relaxed my hair myself today with the Phytospecific Phytorelaxer Index 2. My hair looks amazing! It did not burn at all, application was a breeze, and my hair was straight and smooth even as I washed it out in the shower. I deep conditioned with the Vital Force Creme Bath, applied a mixture of Salerm 21 and Star Lacio Lacio, wrapped my hair, and sat under the dryer. Once my hair dried, I applied a little Phytolisse and flat ironed my hair with my new FHI iron, which is my new miracle tool. To finish my style off and moisturize my hair, I applied a little Phytospecific Beauty Styling Creme all over. My hair turned out beautifully, and I am so psyched to grow it out if it's going to look this good!

Prepared from equivalent quantities of Shea butter and Aloe gel which provides all the advantages of Shea butter, plus the moisturizing and healing properties of Aloe gel. Very creamy and white to off white in appearance with a characteristic fatty odor with a hint of aloe scent, not solventy smelling,non-greasy, moist feel upon application.Should be refrigerated if not used within a few month.
Missfro, OF COURSE you can join! You don't necessarily need a regimen. My sister has never had one and her hair is growing like a weed. You can join anytime.

I think I want to join the grow out challenge. I am working on an online album and it will hopefully be up by the end of the week. To track my progress online. I don't have a regemin worked out really, but I have started to wash my hair on sundays and allow it to air dry. Sometimes I twist or braid my hair while its almost dry, but lately have just been putting it in a bun. I use tea tree oil on my scalp b/c it gets dry easily. I do the baggie method and usually keep that on with a satin bonnet on my head. Its easy for me to do b/c I stay at home with my son during the week. Wednesday I wash my hair in the morning, airdry, then flat iron.
The products I am currently using are Nexxus Therappe, Nexxus Humectress orCreme of Nature shampoo and conditioner Once a week using Aphogee Intense Keratin Reconstructor. I put Gensing Miracle wonder 8 oil in my hair, with elasta Q P recovery oil moisturizer to let it dry, or the recipe that is posted on the homemade recipe board.(don't quite know what to call it) I use a mixture of olive oil mixed in my hands with elasta qp mango butter on my ends when I do the baggie method. When I flat Iron I use Ion anti-frizz solutions heat Protection Thats about it. I'm trying to use a protein treatment, but haven't really ever tried any so I bought a few small packs from Sally's this weekend, to try some different brands out.
Lemme know if thers anything you think I should try! Thanks!
