i've been reading lots lately about the hot stuff fusion thermofiber over at the black hair media website - mostly ppl's reactions have been that it looks great for up to 7-8 weeks, and you can curl it. Altho, I haven't been able to find a place online that sells it in a variety of colours and textures, let alone in wefts : this ladies hair looks absolutely bee-u-tiful with it!! :: http://forum.blackhairmedia.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=8786&KW=Hot+stuff+fusion
hehe...i'm getting so mixed up about all of the diff synth tho! I know I def. want to try synth out for my first-time diy extensions ...that way i wont feel tooo bad if i happen to ruin them! :D ntm ..it's supposed to be ultra-light, in comparision w/human hair! woo!
Its mostly between dome and plastikhaar tho. They both have gotten such nice reviews, its getting to be a tough decision, plus i'm able to order them w/out being a cosmetologist. The only for-sure requirements that I have atm is that it needs to have a def. wave - I have straight, thinning, fine hair, so I curl it everyday x.x (maybe i shouldn't, but it's the only way my hair doesnt look balding!) Oh! And it needs to be able to hold up for at least a couple of weeks of daily washing..hmm.
decisions, decisions :|

ahhhhhh...theres that thermofiber Ive been asking about. Ill have to email the weavequeen and ask about it! But it looks rather expensive (for synthetic) but still way cheaper than good human hair!
If Plastikhaar is high-quality enough, it may be the right option. As far as I know, they're the only synth company that does wefts, the lengths are superlong, and they have every color and color blend known to man. Plus, they've got a million different wave patterns. The question is, what's the quality level? I suppose we'll know soon enough.
I also think you could get the length and texture you want from Dome or Prostyles; you'd just have to blend the colors, which I'm sure you've done before. I don't think they have wefts, though.
I'm under the impression that you can use steam velvet rollers with any of these brands, but you should generally limit the blowdrying to your real hair (on top) and the roots. I think you can blowdry on cool without a problem, and diffusers are also recommended. But who really knows? I'd love to have a bag of each and test it in every conceivable way before it goes on my head.
Don't get discouraged--things are looking up for all of us. Major breakthoughs with Shrinks and extendtubes this year, major realizations about the big, expensive brands, and now there's synth on the horizon.... Prediction: We'll all have beautiful, low-stress hair by year's end!
Funny, Victoria Gotti's on the TV.... I wonder if hers are synth or human....
I am narrowing things down. Weeding out the bad, making notes on the good.
Here's what I know. I want tangle free synth in multiple blonde/red/honey/copper/brownish/gold blends in at least 22" or longer with a soft wave/natural curl on a weft that I can blow dry and curl on low settings and/or put in velvet steam rollers. And I want it to look good for at least 3-4 months.
Is that too much to ask? Is it? Well, IS IT!!!!???
I don't know. My guess is that it's just high-quality synth, nothing out of the ordinary. A lot of the feedback I've been reading on synth says that you can use a curling iron on low temperatures (and most say you can use hot rollers), while others say you should only use a blow-dryer. It's very confusing....
