For those who prefer women with very little hair, have you noticed that most "sexy" (whatever that means) models in magazines and ads have long, flowing, feminine hair?

We can debate personal preference forever. However, there are very few sexy/glamorous pin-ups in the media.

Why do you think that many magazines choose long-haired models over short-haired models?

Although this may sound like a set-up, I am curious for sincere responses.

Because more men prefer long haired models. Thus, U.S. society views long hair as sexy.

Of course, I never head anyone say Meg Ryan, Demi Moore, Charlize Theron, Halle Berry, or Ashley Judd weren't sexy with short hair. Bridget Hall, Amber Valletta, Sarah O'Hare, Shalom Harlow, and Kate Moss all went short and still found work. Linda Evangalista wasn't considered sexy until she cut her hair.

i think simply because when a model has medium to long hair, it creates more styling options than, say a model with hair above her ears.

(totally staying away from the "preference" side of things here!)

True. There are more long haired women than short haired women amongst the "pin up girls" and in the sex magazines.

The classier fashion mags are a different story. There they have short haired female models as well as long haired women.

The guys who buy alot of pinups and sex magazines are usually the guys who don't have women. If a guy has a woman he doesn't have to buy that stuff.

The guys that are into looking at pinups and sex magazines alot, get their sex from,..... ehem..... pleasuring themselves alot.

If you look around the streets and the malls at real men with real women, you will notice that many of these men are with short haired women as well as long haired women.

Most of the women I know that are married to guys, have medium length or short hair lengths, and they are sexy, feminine women..

Unless someone is addicted, no one "has" to buy it! However, one thing you may not know about men is that they are very visual. Even a man who is happily married enjoys the visual of a sexy or beautiful woman. There's nothing wrong with that. Some men like to buy magazines with photos of beautiful women. It doesn't mean he isn't "getting" any or has any perversions at all. Since women don't share that same visual sense, many do not understand when men enjoy looking at those types of images and in fact, sometimes women become threatened by them. We shouldn't.

We all know what you are up to Jennifer. You have made your points clear.

And of course I know that all men like to look at pictures of beautiful women, I was refering to those guys who buy an extraordinary anount of that stuff.
-( It isn't just men who are visual either, us women like to look too!)-.
Also you conviently ignored my points, that the classier fashion mags do have short haired ladies as well as long haired women and they all look good,.... and my other point that many men are married to short haired women, they have kids with them, etc.

MRI and Simmons independently analyze readers of magazines, including "Maxim," "GQ," or even "Playboy." There is no skew toward being married or unmarried. All men read these magazines.

The women we date, or marry, don't usually look like Catherine Zeta-Jones or Shania Twain, this month's "Maxim" cover model. Men fantasize and we fantasize about women who are better looking than our wives and girlfriends. (We know you fantasize about better looking guys than us. We just don't want to think about that.)

BTW, can we cut down on the catty posts on this board? Unless mud wrestling's involved, I don't like to see two women fight.

Rod.
You don't enjoy "catfights"? Most men I know get a kick out of them!!! -(tee hee)-.

How does anyone know what men prefer, unless you have interviewed the 3 billion males on earth! I get a kick out of how everyone_(including myself at times)- is such an expert on what people like!

This board isn't about a popularity contest anyway,_(which is more popular with the "masses" short hair or long hair on women)-, it was set up for those of us who either enjoy wearing short hair or enjoy others with it. It is about discussing the short hairstyles that we enjoy, obviously.

What's all this about trying to prove to us short haired women that people like long hair better? It kind of defeats the whole purpose of having a Short Hair board to enjoy and discuss short hairstyles!

If men prefer long hair, that hardly defeats the purpose of having a short hair board. When you're in the minority, all the more reason to have one.
Being a guy who prefers short hair, I know how much of a minority that is. And I like that. While all my friends encourage their girlfriends to grow it longer, I'm one of the few happy when she goes shorter.

Well I won't argue with you Rod about if men prefer long or short hair. I know many men like both. And I don't really care what the "majority" preference is.

In my notorious past, I worked for an escort service. I initially had very long natural blonde hair-(hip length)-, and some guys went wild for it! Others didn't seem to care, in fact they would brush it away from my face like they didn't really like it. Some even suggested I cut it short.

When I went to a short bob and later to a pixie, it seemed as if just as many guys went wild for those short hair styles! But then again others didn't seem to care.
I think it is impossible for any of us to say for certain what every man likes.

But the good news is that YOU GUYS like short hair on women! Thank you darlings!
..... and keep writing about which styles you like on us!!!!!

Rod, I don't think we (guys who prefer short hair on women) are that much in the minority. I am finding out more and more guys prefer short hair. While long hair is still probably favored, especially with the younger group (< 25), times are changing.

I think so too LS&B...... Many guys DO like women with short hair. I have recieved just as many intrigued looks and compliments with super short hair as I did with super long hair. When I wore my hair in a bob cut many men liked that too. You just can't predict, each man is different.

I think, at least in some social circles of men, that men think they are supposed to say to other men that they like long hair better on women, even if they like short hair better. Sort of a "socially correct" thing to say. I think if you get to the truth of the matter however, that men have varied preferences on hair length on women.

It reminds me a little of other aspects of the fashion industry. When you see a Black fashion model, they are usually light skinned biracial girls like Halle Berry( and she is beautiful of course!!!), but rarely a dark skinned beauty. Same with Hispanics; the models are usually European-Hispanics or near European in appearance, very rarely an "Indian" looking Hispanic woman. It is assumed in the fashion industry that all men of any race prefer European looking women, including European looking women of other ethnic groups and races. But of course some men like dark Black women or more Indian looking Hispanic women as well.
We are just starting to break down these barriers; that short haired women can be as pretty as long haired women. That a dark skinned Black woman can be as pretty as a mixed-race woman. That an Indian Hispanic can be as pretty as a European Hispanic, and so forth. But it is changing, the true variety of women and the fact that different men like different types of women is coming through, thankfully. The stereotypes and barriers are coming down.

Thanks for your input LS&B...... And I thank all of you guys for appreciating us short haired women!!!

Over the years there have been many shorthaired "Pinups" Joey Heatherton comes to mind.. Marilyn Monroe had several movies where you could call her hair short...

I am one of those men that love visuals and I'm a girl watcher... I love women with short hair... I don't think there is anything sexier than the nape of a woman's neck... I love nibbling at a woman's earlobs... Everyone has thier own thing...

This is a shorthaired board and I for one am tired of Jennifers posts here...
Change is good for the soul and fun to talk about!

When I think of pinups, I think of the poster-girls teen-aged boys and young bachelors hang up on their walls. So of course, since so many guys seem to go for long hair, all the pin-ups have it.
*laughs* Besides, most of the models in magazines and pin-ups are so emaciated they have no breasts or curves anymore, so I guess the photographers think no-one will know they're women unless they have long hair and tons of make-up to distinguish them.
Personally, I think someone should make a magazine specially catering to short hair lovers, where all the pin-ups get to show off the sexiest parts of their bodies-- their necks and ears! Do any such magazines actually exist yet? If so, where can I buy my subscription? And if they don't exist, why not?

I have seen numerous short haired women in pinups and "girlie" magazines.
Don't know of any specific magazines, although there are numerous short haired women websites.

Kuroneko,I agree with u on that one because i dont have short hair yet, actually its medium (shoulder length) but i love short hair just because i can just imagine how light it feels on your head (especially in the summer when u'd really appreciate it).Thats why im cutting my hair in the spring like T-Boz had hers back in '94 but hopefully even soon than that because i play BASKETBALL<3 and i go 2 the park 2 play in the summer so if my hair is already cut short i wont have 2 worry about it getting in my way during a game.Plus when i go home and wash it i still wont have 2 worry about getting it 2 look like how it did when i first got it done just because its so low maintainence and the little maintainence it does have its just so quick and easy 2 style.
---------->I love<3 this game!
