QuoteReplyTopic: Need some advice please, pics included Posted: February 13 2005 at 2:57am
Okay, I was thinking about getting my hair cut shorter... just to try it out. The current length I have it right now is the shortest it''s ever been. I''m kind of curious to see how I would look with my hair shorter though. But not too short!
The thing is, is that I don''t want my face to look fatter, because I think my cheeks are somewhat chubby. I really don''t know what kind of face shape I have either. Sometimes I feel like long hair could be dragging down my face, but I really don''t know.
I tried to pin my hair up so I could maybe get an idea of how it would look, but it''s not accurate at all because my hair''s pretty thick and most of it''s tied back in this photo: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v322/pupuu/pic3.jpg
So what do you guys think??? Please post pictures of any shorter hairstyles that you think would suit my face.
Hi Ok here's my advice. Keep the color. here are some pics. I think youd look great with a classy bob. Not too short. Dont let any wahoos tell you to get a pixie! Here is Gillian Anderson showing her bob when she had one for 10 years. i think youd look great wih a style like this but with your current color.
I really like this cut suggestion, especially in the last picture with how it's styled! It doesn't seem too short (something I am trying to avoid). I also like this style of the cut in this photo too: http://gilliananderson.ws/gallery/intouch/intouch3?full=1
Do you think it will make my face look fatter or really older ? I don't want to look really old.

How old are you? Why are you obsessed with the idea that a haircut can make a normal face look fat or a young woman look elderly?
I wouldn't really call myself obsessed... but I do get teased about having "chubby" cheeks ... I'd rather avoid that and avoid more "chubby cheek" comments... and not get a cut that will highlight that feature of my face if you know what I mean... I've also lost a lot of weight, so I always tend to think that I'm larger than I really am.
I've never had shorter hair than the ones in my current pictures. Obviously I don't want my first shorter haircut to be a disaster if I can avoid that, and thus why I posted here for advice. I really have no idea what face shape I have, and all of the articles I've read on hairstyles for face shapes say that certain styles look bad on certain face shapes... and some people will most likely not be happy with the result. For example in this thread... http://talk.hairboutique.com/forum/viewthread.asp?forum=AMB_AP426347679&id=2414
Honestly all I am trying to do is to get a cut that will flatter my face and not make it look worse... no body likes a bad haircut. Hope you understand better now.

In your first pics I thought you were around 16. In the pic that you try to pin up your hair, I thought you looked around 20. I don't know how old you are but to me a chin length cut (like the ones shown) would be good for you. By the way, I don't think you have chubby checks at all!
My advice is to keep in mind which pictures are the results of aggressive styling, and which are a result of the cut. That last Gillian Anderson picture is mainly styling for a photo shoot. Asian hair has a real tendancy to lie flat. My wife has her hair short currently and it takes a lot of work to give it texture and body. Often that styling goes away throughout the day. If you do go short make sure the cut itself has a ton of texture and layers so that you don't have to rely on products and blow drying cause they just won't work very well.

I already went a little overboard with suggestion pics in the other copy of this thread ^_^; . Just chiming in here to say you don't look old or chubby to me. You look teen-aged and adorable. *nods* Oh, and I need to poke the sayer of the "wahoos" remark. *pokes* I happen to really like pixies, and think any suitably attractive woman can pull them off very well. But I also think it's important to listen to what people say, and even if this poster is pretty enough to pull off a pixie, she said she didn't want that, so I didn't post any. *shrugs* Plenty of nice non-pixie styles out there, so it's not really that hard.
More awesome than a manatee!
