Kind of dreds but kind of not.....HELP!!!

hey everyone. i'm getting my haircut in three days and i need big time help. i'm a chick and i'm cutting my hair to a tiny bit below my ears and layering it bigtime. but i want to have it so it's all twisted. kind of looking like dredlocks, but not actually dreds. do you know what i mean? so that if i put a headband in, it sticks straight back in a way. i need to know how to do it though. help please asap!!
