Hey Guyz/Galz!!!

I have less than 2 weeks separating me from a new `do. Last time I went to have it cut my mom and I got in a huge fight because she said I don`t know ow to take care of my hair and i only got a trim. Now I have 2 weeks b4 I go back to the same stylist and I don`t know what to do. My mom hasn`t said much since the incident about how she thinks I should get my hair cut. During the fight she told me I needed to get a chin length bob so I could learn how to take care of my hair, but since then she has supported me with my long hair adventures, she`s even bought me a curling iron and a blow dryer of my own. I don`t want another fight and I`m totally completely clueless!!! I mean should I go for the bob and get kicked off the dance team? or should I get a trim and risk another fight? should I update my style at all?? I`m totally clueless!

Right now, my hair is about 2-3 inches below my shoulders, brown, and wavy. I need some help so I don`t fight iwht my mom the day before Easter!!!!! PLEEEZ HELLLLP ME!!!!!!

Btw: Do ya`ll think moms should have a say in how their sons/daughters get their hair cut after age 12???

Thanx :-)

I know it must be really hard for you w/ your mom trying to push you into getting a haircut your not really sure of. I really don`t think that you should get it cut just bcause your mom wants you to; you probably won`t like the haircut if your pushed into it. I also don`t think it`s really worth getting kicked of the dance team either. I really don`t think that parents should have any say in what their kids do with their hair. They can have an opinion, but they shouldn`t pressure them into anything. Maybe when you get your haircut just get some longer layers or something, just for a bit of change. Try an talk to your mom (nicely) about your feelings about this everything. YOu might even want to tell your stylist about all this, and maybe he or she can persuade your mom or something...

I don`t think you should get your hair cut if you don`t want. I have the opposite problem because I want to cut my hair and mom doesn`t want me to. Its YOUR hair. I don`t really understand what your moms complaint with your hair is but I think you should talk about it before you go. Maybe if you just wore it up more and experimented with ways to style it your mom would see that you are taking care of it. You could talk to your stylist about ways to style it and different ways to wear long hair.

NO! They should let you do what you want, not after age 12, nay, as soon as you`re old
enough to express an opinion! Yours is particularly pushy, I think. What a thing to fight over;
it`s not like you want to be mohawked or anything. I suggest you tell your mother she is
hurting your feelings, and to be diplomatic, tell her you will try to learn to take care of longer
hair. If she`s persistent, tell your dad (unless you think he`ll be mad) to step in and tell her
to stop treating you like this. (What I say is a bit simplified - your dad & you should try to
present your case as calmly as possible. I hope he`s on your side). Your mom can`t push you
against your dad`s will, at least not easily. I hope you prevail.
