you have to bleach it, but since your hair is so dark it`ll be a little difficult.
you have two options: 1) do it yourself, or 2) get it done professionally

if you choose #1, you have to get a strength 30-40 developer (bleach). bleach your hair until it`s a medium to light blonde. then dye your hair with the red.

reds i suggest:
1) for a REALLY bright red, special effects cherry bomb
2) for a little darker but still bright red, special effects candy apple red
