Try Redken`s Rewind, it`s a paste. Just use a little in damp or dry hair. It works great.

Have you ever put mousse in it. If not , when your hair is wet (not drip wet though) run mousse through it with your fingers all through out your hair then blow dry it. While blow drying it don`t scrunch your hair or anything just run your fingers through it. The mousse will thicken your hair and and allow it to hold better. After your hair is dry spray it with a little bit of hairspray and brush it through and then style it. I do this every day so it`s good to use a good mousse and hair spray because neither of them are good for your hair so Pantene is the best choice of both of them. That`s what I use.
