need some help with color

i have auburn hair that is pretty thick that is about mid way down my back but has a face frame in the front..ugh i dont know what posessed me to get face frame.everyone says i have gorgeous hair color and should never change it but i want punk hair color. i have it thinned but not too much. i dont want it short short but i am willing to go up to my shoulders maybe a little shorter but i have had short hair and didnt like it. i am in need of any suggestions..thanks
