Hey sweetie,

A brief hair hazard list: blow dryers/fryers, coloring, perming, any chemical processing, curling irons, flat irons, small hair ties, molded plastic combs, backcombing/teasing, sleeping with loose hair

Unfortunately there's not a way to straighten hair without damage. Likewise, all day. Flat irons do damage, so do permanent straightening treatments.

So while you can't go completely straight, without damage/breakage/splits, some people have had luck with wet combing-- using a seamless comb while the hair is wet, so hairs dry the right way. Sometimes Folded and twisted hairs cause frizz; but I don't know if it will decrease or worsen curls and wave. Other people have said it helped to blow dry while combing. but then again, blow drying is damaging too....

You kinda have to have one without the other... straightness with splits, or some other combination.

As long as you're interested in preventing damage, you might as well grow out your hair... it sounds very pretty : ) Thick hair would do nicely at a really long length, since the weight of the hair would crank down the volume.

Hugs,
Anais
