Another Perm?

Hi Bob,Congrats on your perm. The rule of thumb is to wait a minimum of 2-4 weeks between chemical applications like perm or bleach or color.A lot depends on the condition of your hair. If your hair is strong and full and healthy, 2-4 weeks is fine. If your hair is weak or thinning or damaged, you should, in my opinion, wait as long as possible.One important plus that you have is that you are going to a professional. If you are going to a professional who has expertise in perm treatments, they will be able to warn you if your hair can not handle a perm in this time span.The other question to consider is how much of your hair are you perming? Are you doing just the roots or the entire head? This is also significant. If you are perming over the previous perm, this can make your hair more fragile, if you are just perming the grown out part, this would be better and the time frame would be fine if your hair is basically in good shape.Are you trying to grow you hair longer or keeping it shorter? If you are keeping it shorter, you can always have the last permed hair trimmed off and have the majority of the new perm applied to the new hair growth.If you are growing your hair longer and want to perm over the previous perm, make sure that your hair is strong and healthy to handle another perm on that previously permed hair.One thing you can do to protect your hair is to do a deep condition once a week, every week, until you have the perm treatment done.You may not want to condition your entire hair if the conditioner would make it too soft.
