I've tried for the last time with chemicals to get the red highlights out of my brown hair. The more I color it, even with semi-perm color, the redder it gets and the more damaged it gets. Does anyone know of any alternative ways to color hair like color enhancing shampoo or a homemade recipe? I can't afford to go to a salon to get it corrected right now.
>Dear Roberta,Have you tried Hayashi's colour shampoo? They have lots of colours too choose from & if you leave the shampoo in for 15 minutes the colour result is quite good but I will say I found it a little drying, I'm madly searching for my old text as it has a lot of herbal infusions that REALLY COLOUR& WORK, I will keep looking as soon as I find the book I will post you back as the receipies are lengthy. Can you tell me what colour you are trying to achieve, well I'm off to find that darn book!!Try not to stress!!Best Wishes Simone(C)I've tried for the last time with chemicals to get the> red highlights out of my brown hair. Hi Roberta, found my book!!, here goes a herbal infusion to darken your hair(don't hate me if it does'nt work!!). You need to use a strong infusion of SAGE, let it steep (Brew)in boiling water overnight before applying, for a stronger effect add arrowroot powder to turn the infusion into a gel/paste apply evenly & leave on for half an hour, when using this method it is a good idea to try a patch test (as I tried this & my hair went really dark brown), here's how to do the infusion- the brew consists of 30grams of the dried herb to 500 millilitres of boiling water if the herbs are fresh use double, NEVER use metal containers to infuse (steep) as the herbs may react in a weird way so only use Glass!!, or China.Good Luck,Simone. (C).Is this permanent or does it wash out if it's too dark. Do you put in on dry or wet hair? I really don't want it any darker, just want the red out and back to a light brown. I probably need one of those double processes done at a salon one day. I might try this though. Thanks for looking for the book. What's the book called? Also, what does 500 millilitres convert to in quarts or gallons? I live in the the only place on earth not using the metric system.> I'm trying to get a light brown with as little red
Hi Roberta, the conversion is 500ml=.132gal, as I suggested try a strand test first as this brew can go lighter brown if you make it a bit weaker, it made my hair (which is very porous!!!) medium dark brown & yes it fades out slowly and for some blessed with non tortured hair it will wash out as it has'nt any dry bits to grab.
