Perms are really back in style!!! Perm stories

Well, I finally decided to get a perm. I went to a salon briefly today, and the stylist recommended that I get a spiral perm for my type of hair. Perms are really coming back in style in the area I live. Many women are getting their hair permed, since alot of perms nowadays don't damage your hair like the perms a few years back. Do any of you have advice on spiral perms? Also, I would appreciate it if you could tell me about your own perm experiences.
