Need to know what to do with my hair when I sleep! It wraps around me and keeps me from resting all night. And in the morning, it gets bent at the ends in all directions HELP!

I've found a very simple french braid started very low towards the base of the skull the easiest and most effective thing for me. Also, a low, loosely tied pony tail with terry cloth bands (cut nylons are excellent too)wrapped every few inches if I want it kept straight works like a charm.... I'm dying to try a silk nightcap but can't quite work up the courage to wear it in front of my husband (honeymoon's not over yet) ..... good luck!!btw, what do you do to keep your hair in good condition?

Personally, I don't like to sleep with my hair in a bun. I have done this before, but I've found that a bun isn't exactly the most comfortable thing to lie down on. I only sleep in a bun now if I am deliberately doing it to set my hair. Any of the sleeping styles the others have mentioned are good it your hair is dry, but my hair won't dry overnight if I sleep with it up. What I do when my hair is wet is just sleep with it loose. I push it so that it falls behind my pillow over the edge of the bed, so that I don't have to sleep on it. This keeps it from getting too tangled or otherwise messed up and makes my sleep more comfortable as well.Erika
I use two scrunchies, one regular size to make my hair into a regular ponytail. Then, I use a smaller one about midway down. I sleep on a satin pillowcase and place my hair to the front on one side, it doesn't get mangled that way.

For bedtime, I position a bun on top of my head. My bun is very large so a bun on the back of my head was very unconfortable. And hubby does not mind the look. I often awake with hubby's face buried in my bun. (still honeymooning after 9 years of marriage.

I flip my hair over the pillow so that I don't sleep on it. I have been doing this for many years and I don't wake up with tangles. this stems from my high school years when I had to get up real early to go to school (I am NOT an early bird) and it saved my hairstyles. Just a light comb and I'm on my way.

Hey, maybe that's what hair bonnets used to be for back in the old 'little house on the prairie' days. I always wondered why they slept with bonnets... maybe it was more common back then to have long hair. Maybe you could find one or something similar and do one loose braid at the back and tuck it under the bonnet. And if hair bonnets are loose then secure it with pins. (what's a good modern term for the hair bonnet anyway?)
