QuoteReplyTopic: can anyone suggest a new hairstyle for me? Posted: January 12 2000 at 6:43am
HiI have been trying to grow my hair out since January but have been trimming it monthly. The longest I have managed to get it is just over my ears but my stylist has since cut it to just above my ears and bangs which when blowdried touch my nose. I wear a centre parting and have not been blowdrying it recently. My hair is naturally wavy and thick but curls with difficulty. When blowdried it goes straight. Can anyone suggest a new hairstyle for me ? as I am very bored with this style that I have been wearing on and off since 1993.I want a different look but I would like to keep my length. As when I have short hair my ears look like jug handles. I am currently being pressurised into going really short. I also want to put some highlights in, my naturel colour is dark brown.P.S I have an oval shaped face and an almost olive skin tone. Please help

Hi,I'm no professional.. and I've just recently been finding out things about hair care I never knew before. So all I can offer you is what I would do based on what I've been reading, which may or may not be good advice.I just decided to grow my hair out too and from what I've read it's best that you don't have bangs... keep them the same length as the rest of your hair. This will cause the nutrients to feed all of your hair equally and should help your hair grow out faster. Also everyone has a different maximum speed at which their hair will grow. Once you reach it there is nothing that will help speed it up. But keeping it as healthy as you know how should keep it growing at it's optimum speed. As for your stylist pressuring you to keep your hair short, I would choose another stylist. In my unlearned opinion, a good stylist should help you get the look you want in the healthiest way possible. Find someone that will help you grow out your hair without pressuring you otherwise.I hope this has been a help.... and I hope the professionals on this board will correct me if I am gravely mistaken, but this is what I have been recently learning about haircare.
