Hi Everyone :)I just wanted to say that I've been using Aubrey Organics since September and I love their products. I have ultra thick hair (enough hair for three people they say)which is several inches past my shoulders. My scalp is somewhat on the oily side, flaky, and I have sebborheic dermatitis (The best Aubrey product for this is the Blue Green Algae Conditioning Hair Mask - after I use this mask, for several days afterwards my scalp feels sooo wonderful-no itchies, no flakes, no uncomfortableness. This product has been a life savior!). My hair is normal to dry and coarse in texture. It has a bit of a natural wave in it. Anyways, I've tried just about every shampoo line in the drugstore and salon and Aubrey always leaves my hair clean, shiny, full of body, and helps with the scalp problems too. The products I like the best are the Jay Shampoo because even though this shampoo contains some oils and is very moisturizing, the jojobo helps control the oil and soothes the scalp. The GPB Conditioner is very moisturizing and conditions well too. These two are the products I use most often. With Aubrey Products as I was told in the very beginning, the more you use it the better the results on your hair. If you use it for a week, you might not see a difference right away. However if you use it for a month or more, yes you will see results. Just hang in there and continue using it.By the way, I too have Paula's book reviewing Aubrey and when I first read that review I was shocked. But if you read Paula's reviews for any hair care products containing herbs, you will see those reviews are quite negative also. As was pointed out to me, that book is only the opinion of ONE individual and I bet Paula never even tried Aubrey's products. Also as Aubrey's employee pointed out in a post below, Paula is NOT a herbalist. Very valid points.I invite those of you who haven't tried Aubrey's wonderful products to give them a fair try (Like a month)and then let us know what you think. It's not fair to just dismiss a good product (Yeah, yeah, yeah I almost did this too until some people pointed out the above to me and they're right! Also, having used Aubrey myself I know all the good things Aubrey has done for my hair.) just because you read in a book some negative claims. Try it for yourself and then let us know what you think. We'd love to hear. Thanks!!Maria Related Link:Maria In Mass

Hi Maria,I'm glad they work for you! Since you have an oily scalp and the ingredients can be drying to the scalp, that's probably why they work for you! However, one thing I love about Paula's books is that she has *researched* the ingredients and spoken with many many scientists and herbalists to find out just what goes into the shampoos and conditioners. I've heard so many people rave about a product or two (and it's always great when we find a product we love!) but no one asks questions as to *why* the product works. Saying that a product is recommended is fine, but giving specific reasons of why certain ingredients work is really telling the consumer something. It's interesting that even the "natural" companies simply have to use some chemicals, otherwise all we'd be doing is throwing herbs on our hair, and those alone won't clean and condition!!Wise consumers simply need to be aware and research all about their products. Sometimes slick advertising (and I'm not thinking of Aubrey or any other company, just companies in general) can sway even the more savvy of us.Something else that was interesting from her book:"You may be shocked to learn that drugstore lines or lines we perceive as being "cheap" or a bargain (and therefore not very good) are often the very lines that spend the most money on research and development of their products."Please understand that I'm in no way "against" Aubrey Organics. I just think we all ought to be aware of what ingredients are needed to clean hair and what are in products (such as sodium lauryl sulfate) that can be bad for hair. Undoubtedly, Aubrey has worked for several people, and if you like the results, then you should keep using it! But others should understand why some products may not be working for them. Paula does not sell hair care products and therefore has no financial gain in bringing out the truth.> Hi Everyone :)> I just wanted to say that I've been using Aubrey> Organics since September and I love their products. Paula's review on Blue Green Algae Hair Rescue Conditioning Mask ($13.50 for 4 ounces):"..contains emollients, aloe, and plant extracts. This can be good for dry hair."It seems mostly that Paula didn't care for the cleansing ingredients found in the shampoos, which she felt could be drying for some. And also, (and I have to agree) that often companies that use "natural" as an advertising tool often contain some very "unnatural" ingredients.Anyway, she did rate several of the conditioners and creme rinses of Aubrey's as good! I thought you would be happy to see that.

Just kidding. But I was startled by those few posts that said, in a nutshell, "I love Aubrey Organics, and I don't care if they're lying about their ingredients, I'm not switching."I'm sure it's a wonderful line, and I have no reason (personally) to doubt they're on the "up and up." But I'd like to think consumers would react if some sort of deception were revealed. I don't know what Begoun's motives are in implying this, but....Why is she suspect rather than the shampoo company? When she tells us products without preservatives are bacteria prone, why do we get outraged instead of pausing to consider it?What would you do if you found out Aubrey wasn't Organic?I'm just curious. I've never used the product.Ally

I'm not sure why Aubrey is considered sacred. Sometimes marketing is so strong and makes us feel so good about ourselves that we'll believe anything. That was mentioned many times in Paula's book. For instance, she gave excellent reviews of all of Aveda's products (and I'm very pleased with what I've used) but she said she is displeased with their marketing of making them sound like there are no chemicals in them.I think we SHOULD question companies to keep them honest. Sure, I like sweet-smelling shampoos and conditioners and pretty bottles, but I also want to make sure that the product is good for my hair and does not contain anything that harms it. And if things are used that are a potential for irritation (which doesn't mean it has to happen), I want to know! Interestingly enough, her research found that there were far more good conditioners than shampoos. And it is hard to find a shampoo that *just* cleans without adding or taking moisture or that has potential to be drying or anything else. Personally, I'd rather use a shampoo that doesn't build up on the hair and then choose a conditioner formulated for my hair. Shampoo washes off! So does conditioner, of course, but it seems to be made to leave its effects on the hair.

> I know Aubrey is a favorite on this site and I risk being shot, but basically I have tried most of their shampoos and conditioners and they leave my hair dry and dull. Aveda does the same - I find all of their products to be useless for me.I LOVE Artec Smoothing, Nexxus Humectress and Biolage.
